"HEY! HOW DARE YOU! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! LET ME THROUGH!"
"Stop. Let her go. She means no harm."
Katelyn looked up at Levin, taking a small break from thrashing the KnightWings surrounding her. She blinked.
Levin walked forwards, and the KnightWings slowly backed away from Katelyn. "Katelyn, you have no idea how great it is to see you again!" He said as he hugged her. Katelyn hugged back before awkwardly pushing away.
"As great as it is to see you, Prince Levin, my duties remain and I wish to see the princess." Katelyn said, remembering her formalities.
"With all due respect, Prince Levin," Ivy protested, pushing through the other KnightWings, "how could you possibly allow her in Aphmau's presence?"
"Because Katelyn was-well, is-the personal guard and friend of my sister. Besides-and no offense-I actually trust her more than I trust you." Levin said, putting Ivy in her place.
Ivy stepped back. "Of course. I did not mean to sound hostile, I just care about the people I am sanctioned to protect."
Katelyn nodded. "Such honorable angels such as you are a necessity in these, dark, dark times."
Ivy nodded, basking in the pride. Katelyn turned around and immediately walked off down the corridors. Levin ran after her.
In Aphmau's bedroom, Levin saw Katelyn standing over Aphmau's bed, crying? No, wait, she was just griping about somebody-or something. Levin really couldn't tell.
Katelyn put her hand on Aphmau's chest, strangely silent.
That's when another angel popped up out of nowhere, possibly from a golden lasso. Katelyn face palmed.
"Really? The timing was perfect, but really?"
The angel sniffed the air. "Hah! I knew it! Netherwart poison!"
Three more angels also appeared out of nowhere. "Fine. You were right. Here's your GN." Said a pink-haired angel, handing over a gold nugget.
"Still believe it's not possible?" A black-haired angel asked a BookWing.
"Well, I guess the evidence is pretty strong. But I still wouldn't say it's definite." Emmalyn, the BookWing said. "Also, Vylad, you wouldn't mind telling me more about Netherwart poison, would you?"
"Who are you? Katelyn, who is this, and what the fuck is going on?" Levin said, only for Katelyn to ignore him.
"Nether-what poison? Actually, don't answer that. Just tell me you know the cure." Katelyn said.
"Well, yes... but... well..."
"Well?" Katelyn asked expectantly.
Levin just watched the scene wide-eyed.
"Promise you absitively posolutely will not bite my head off?"
Katelyn sighed. "Just do it already, Vylad."
"You know, he's going to hold you to that word." The black angel said.
"Okay, okay! I swear, on my honour, I will NOT bite your head off." Katelyn said.
"Okay." Vylad put his hands together, concentrating. The room turned dark. A dark, flaming-type energy appeared in Vylad's hands. Slowly, a small fraction of that energy floated through the air, right above Aphmau. It fell into her.
Aphmau began to change as Vylad fell backwards. Her eyelids began to flutter.
Levin watched in pure wonder as Aphmau yawned, sat up, and stretched like everyday. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she turned and looked down her back.
"Why do I have a tail?" She asked, half-asleep.
Katelyn lost it. "WHAT THE FUCK VYLAD, YOU TURNED HER INTO A GODDAMN DEMON!"
"Hey! You said you wouldn't bite my head off!" Vylad said, standing back up. "Besides, with the anatomy of a demon, Netherwart poison can't harm her. And it'll only last a few hours." Vylad squeaked out the last sentence, as Katelyn had him pinned against a wall and was applying serious pressure to his windpipe.
"Okay, WILL SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT IN THE NAME OF SHIT IS GOING ON?!" Levin demanded, annoyed and frustrated.
"Here, let me explain." Emmalyn said, grabbing Levin and dragging him from the room.
The moment the young prince was gone, Michi dropped her illusion. The moment it was gone, the first thing Katelyn noticed was how hard Zane was blushing as he stated at Aphmau.
Katelyn and Michi both glared at him, and Michi growled a little. "You have to admit, Aphmau's very beautiful as a demon. All snowy and white." Zane squeaked.
"Aphmau's beautiful no matter what form she takes." Katelyn said, completely unaware that she was quoting what Garroth said just last chapter.
"Hey! You're all here! Aphmau said just as Emmalyn and Levin reentered the room. "Group hug!"
Everyone crowded around Aphmau and joined in on the hug.
As they all hugged, Aphmau couldn't help feeling joy at being reunited with her friends-and at gaining one more ally.
Yep, things were definitely going her way at last.
