The Rejected Shadow

RR3 continued.

She stiffened for a moment when he asked that question....
Then she let out a slow breath and said
"Yea.... My second chance mate rejected me.... Isn't it?" She asked making sure what ever happened was real
"Yea...." He said softly, squeezing her hand hoping to give her some strength
"I don't remember anything after that.... " she said, the last thing she remembered was Ethan kneeling next to her asking her to hold on.... And in a weird way she was happy that David had rejected her, because she hadn't felt anything for him , her heart beat fast for another person but that person had given up on the idea of mates or even being in a relationship how did one tell a cautious person like him that she liked him?

Not noticing her grimace at the vivid picture that came into her mind when she thought about talking to him, Peter said
" It was weird..... Almost every plant and tree looked like it was bowing to you"
Here she burst out laughing and asked
"Bowing???. Peter I think your going crazy.. " she said still laughing
"Will you let me finish?" He asked her ,slightly miffed that she didn't believe him,
"Yea. Sorry.." She said biting her cheek to keep form Laughing again.
He then continued and said
"Then there were these golden lights or beams that sort of encircled around you..... And the forest bed.... The ground I mean..... It started cracking and fizzing .... But maybe five minutes later all was quite again... And you were back onto the ground, all around you were these vines that had entangled itself around you..... So we had to cut it out to free you.... "
She kept quite once he had finished saying , she didn't know what to make out of it, but she had a slight feeling that it was just the prophesy being fulfilled, but she didn't know how the prophesy could be complete when she was rejected only twice..

A few minutes later she asked
" What's the situation in the other packs?... "
Peter rubbed his hands over his face tiredly and said
"The number of rogues sightings are increasing..... Every pack is not equipped to fight the rogues.... So many packs are joining with each other.... But no one is able to catch even one rogue.... "
He put his head in his hands and said sounding irritated
"There's something different about them..... They seem to be faster and more dangerous.... According to the alphas that's I've talked to.... "

He was worried about what the future held, if there was going to be a war they would be fighting it blind! Without knowing anything about the enemy was a sure shot at loosing,

They both kept silent for a few minutes when Lexi Asked him
", can I be left alone for some time?."
She wanted to be left alone with her thoughts and right now her emotions where getting too hard to handle she she didn't want Peter to bear the brunt of it...
"OK, take care.. " He said kissing her forehead and leaving the room,.....

Lexi looked at the clock and it said 3:30 PM so she quickly removed the drip from her arm and threw her blanket away and went to the bathroom and put on a pair of jeans and a shirt that Ethan had kept there for her, from her closet.
She then made sure that no one was coming up the stairs and she quickly closed the medical room door and put a chair against it and looked out from her window to see that the room was on the third floor,
So she climbed out of the room through the window and held onto the water pipe line by the side and slid down,
She then ran into the woods,.......her tears blurring her vision Of the path into the woods,

But what she didn't know was just as she was running into the woods Ethan had seen her from the medical room that she had escaped from,
he had gone to the room hoping to see her, only to find out after pushing the door open that she wasn't anywhere in the room and the hospital gown was near the bathroom....
He knew that something was wrong and immediately pulled the curtains of the window aside to see her running into the woods...
He then quickly jumped off that floor and landed on his paws, and ran towards where he saw her last....
