"Just fucking jump, Stump!" Y/N yelled from the top of the grassy ledge. Below them was an out of breath, panicked Patrick Stump, jumping frantically to get a good grip on the ledge above. "Stump, you better not fucking die! We've come to far!" The creatures chasing Patrick and Y/N started to close in on the terrified small man.
Patrick looked at the ledge above him once again, searching for a way to get on top of it. To the right of the man was a root sticking up from the ground, perfect for pulling him up if he can jump high enough. Patrick let out a breath, and walked a few paces backwards. With the root in sight, he sprinted towards the wall, jumped, and grabbed hold of the root. He clumsily tried to pull himself up, but at the last second, a creature grabbed hold of his right ankle, and started thrashing it's head side to side. The young paladin screamed in pain, and let go of the tree root.
"God damn it!" Y/N screamed angrily above the man. The hunter pulled out their bow and an arrow, and aimed at the creature latched onto their friends ankle. They breathed in and let go, the arrow striking the creature between the eyes. The creature let out a Yelp and flew backwards, slowly disintegrating.
Patrick, being immensely injured from the one creature, quickly wielded his mace to protect himself from further attacks from the pack of creatures surrounding him.
"Do you have my back, Y/N?" Patrick panted as he slowly tried to stand up. His eyes darted from each creature in front of him, unsure of which to attack first since there were so many.
"Only if you don't die, Stump." The man chuckled, and swung his mace immediately at one of the creatures, damaging it greatly, making it flee for its life. The Hunter above him kept firing arrow after arrow at the creatures that surrounded their friend.
The fight was intense between beast and humanoid. With each creature they slayed, another one came along and joined the attack. Patrick was greatly damaged. Even though he had trained to be a tanky paladin, he did not train to be without a healer and have monster after monster attack him.
"Y/n.,. I don't think I'm gonna make it," Patrick gasped, blood spilling from his mouth. And yet he kept fighting. He didn't want to let the Hunter down because they had come so far, and to be killed on a pack of these creatures just seemed to make the possible outcome worse.
Before the Hunter could tell their friend to keep goin g and hold on, the killing blow was dealt to Patrick. His eyes went wide, and he fell to the ground. Y/N looked in horror at the sight of Patrick's lifeless body, and all she could do was run from the scene. As they dashed and jumped to get far enough away from the monsters, their horror was soon replaced with anger.
"GOD DAMN IT PATRICK!" I threw my headphones off my head, and crossed my arms angrily. "You couldn't have fucking healed, you fuck?"
"I was out of mana potions and I didn't have enough to heal!" Patrick defended himself, putting his headphones down carefully.
"We were an hour along, and we didn't even get to our checkpoint, Stump! Now we have to start from the beginning!" I slid down in my chair and covered my face. Patrick pushed out his chair and wrapped his arms around me.
"Let's try again tomorrow, babe. We've played enough today," he whispered soothingly into my ear. I sighed, picking my head up to look at Patrick.
"Yeah... I guess you're right." Patrick smiled and pulled out my chair for me to stand. I got up and stretched, then walked out of the room. "Oh yeah, you're sleeping on the couch tonight because of that," I called to him from the hallway. A chair from inside the room fell to its side hastily, followed by a long groan from Patrick.
I don't know what this was, but I've been thinking about writing about Patrick in some kind of rpg or mmo type of thing, and I guess this is it...
