Four years later.

'Welcome to the field, the reason we're all here today, The Carolina Panthers lead by second year quarterback Blake Rivers!' The football commentator's voice rumbles through the packed stadium.

'Let's go boys!' I scream, sliding my helmet on and running onto the turf field. Thousands of fans dressed in cobalt blue and pitch black cheer and chant my name. It's like music to my ears. This is what I've been working for.

The boys all huddle up around me, 'Okay boys, we win this we take the division title and we're on a flight tomorrow to Philadelphia to play the Eagles in the playoffs.' They all whistled and got hype. 'But don't think about that just yet, let's go out there and wipe Dallas off the map. Let's humiliate them like we know we can. Let's show those cowgirls who's boss!' They start jumping around and cheering. 'Defeat on three! One! Two! Three!'

'Defeat!'

*~*~*

'Hope you enjoy your flight Mr. Rivers.' The sexy flight attendant smiled at me when she handed me back my boarding pass.

'Thank you.' I give her my signature smirk and enter the plane with the rest of my team following behind me.

I sit in my first class seat and I slip my earphones, ignoring the feeling in my gut when it sinks in that I'm going to Philadelphia.

Gordan: Congrats on the win bro, see you in the city of brotherly love bright in early tomorrow.

Blake: Thanks man, it means a lot. Let's keep this on the down low can we?

Suddenly my phone rings seconds after I send the message.

'Hello.'

'Blake Rivers.' Gordan's deep voice flows through my iPhone.

'What's up?'

'How and the hell do you think I'm gonna keep this on the down low? You remember we play for a professional football league. You know that they're televised? And that my little sister watches every single one of your games religiously?'

At the mention of Jade, my jaw clenches. 'Just don't tell her I'm staying with you.' I grit out.

'Uh I haven't told her but.. I'm pretty sure she will find out.'

'How?'

'Oh you will see. See you tonight when you get in.'

'Are you picking me up from the airport?'

'Yes I am.' I could hear the smile in his voice.

'Just you?'

And the line went dead.

Blake: Asshole.

I slid my phone away, shutting it off, when the pilot makes his announcement saying to do just that. I lay my seat back slightly and feel myself drift to sleep.

*~*~*

After finally landing and getting my luggage, my team and I made it to the escalators that lead to the bottom floor that exited towards the parking lot. Coming down the escalator I searched the crowd for Gordan's familiar face.
