A warm breeze swept across my face. I woke lazily in the cabins bedroom. Everybody else was awake, probably in the main room. Elise had set clean clothes by the bed so I quickly put them on and walked into the main room.
"Good morning, sleepy head." Elise giggled.
Her smile never disappoints. I knew this was going to be a good day.
"Good morning. What are you all eating?" I asked, noticing that they were all chewing something.
Jordan pulled out a couple cans of beans, "It's not the most satisfying, but we might as well get rid of the gross stuff."
"Yeah, it was either this or a can of spinach." Ben chuckled.
Elise found it quite amusing... Whats going on with her?
"I'd rather." Elise joked.
We all laughed and joked for a while until we were finished with the few cans of beans.
"Can we have a shower?" Jordan asked.
"The plumbing here doesn't work." I stated.
"There is a well behind the cabin. You can get a bucket of water and do your business." Ben said.
Jordan frowned, then shrugged and walked out back.
"We'll all have our turn." I said to Elise and Ben.
"You can go next. You deserve it for leading us so far." Ben stated, sounding almost sarcastic.
I nod and walk out back. Jordan smiled at me and walked past with a bucket of water. We both washed ourselves on the other sides of the cabin. Once I was done, I met Jordan at the door. I turned the knob and pushed the door open. Elise and Ben's hands pushed away from each other and they both quickly scattered to their feet. Both blushing, they rushed outside.
"I wonder what that was all about." Jordan said, smiling uncontrollably.
Jordan and I sat down on the floor. She put her dark hair into a pony-tail and I fell into a long trance. The world around me blurred and my eyes focused on a spider, crawling up the cabin wall. I used to be afraid of spiders... But now, I've seen much, much worse. Far worse than I could have imagined. Spiders now seemed like bunnies compared to walkers. I know I can never forgive myself for starting this all, but maybe I can forget it. It would take nothing more than a miracle. But then Elise came into mind. I did not picture her alone... I pictured her with Ben. They were almost complete opposites. Elise and I had trouble in school, and Ben got above average. Elise and I hated being centre of attention, and Ben was very opposite. But Ben had always been my friend. I never even imagined a world where I hated him... But when I saw him with Elise... Something snapped within me.
Voices echoed in my head. They started out as panicked whispers. Then they turned into a pleading cry for help.
"Logan! Logan! Logan!" Jordan cried in my ear.
She shook my shoulder in attempt to break my trance. Finally, I entered reality. I stood up and faced Jordan with a pale face.
"What? What happened?" I demanded.
"Something is happening outside!" She shouted.
We ran outside. Cries for help came from just around the corner. There was Ben and two walkers. One was on the ground, dead. The other was on top of him. It's claws sunk into his stomach and exposed flesh. It seemed that I could hear heartbeat. The walker had torn his stomach open and his guts spilt. I charged at the walker and tackled it off of Ben. I quickly took out my knife and violently stabbed at it's head, killing it's brain. Tears flown from my eyes as I pushed off the walker to get up. I looked at Elise standing over Ben. She now leaned over him. She turned to me with tears in her eyes.
"Do something!" Elise pleaded.
I knew Ben would turn. He was scratched... No. This was more than a scratch.
I pulled out my gun and aimed it down on him. I looked away and felt the kick of the gun.
