Crashed

Winter passed by very slowly. Michonne and I trusted each other, but I did not entirely know her. We hadn't found the group since I lost them. I had to admit that I was losing hope that I would find them. Michonne and I followed a road until we heard something... We paused for a moment... A helicopter! It was crashing! It crashed in a forest. We went as fast as we could, Michonne's pet walkers slowed us down a bit. Michonne checked it out while I ducked behind a bush. I started to stand but she came back.

"What?"

"People in trucks." She said dully.

"My group?" I asked excitedly.

"Don't think so. They look military or something," Michonne doubted.

"Military? How can you tell?"

"They got some big guns." She stated.

"That means nothing," I grumbled.

The people came out. Michonne was right, it wasn't my group. They were mostly men. They had a huge supply of ammunition. Where in the world would they find that much? The lead man stuck a knife into the skull of one of the people who were in the helicopter.

"That man was alive," Michonne said fiercely.

I looked to her then back at the man. I had a bad feeling about him... I didn't entirely see them after that. I began hearing a faint moan. A single walker came from behind. It's feet shuffled just past us and to the men. I peeked over the bush and saw one of the men shoot an arrow with a recurve bow and it went right through the skull and into the tree behind it. The man took the bloody arrow out of the tree and wiped the blood onto the grass. After a while, they left the area and Michonne and I stood.

"Come on, let's get out of here," Michone said.

Michonne and I began walking away when a young woman with long, red hair stumbled out from behind a tree.

"Help me," She muttered.

Michonne and I looked at each other. Despite the oddness of this, we helped her. She took a sip out of our water bottle and ate an apple that we gave her.

"Your name?" Asked Michonne.

"Kailey," She said through a gasp for air after a bite of the apple.

"Would you like to come with us?" I ask.

"Where are you going?" Kailey said.

"Wherever fate takes us," I replied.

"Perhaps you should show us if you've got any weapons," Michonne stated.

Kailey put the half eaten apple onto her lap and searched her pockets, only showing us a single knife. We allowed her to keep it and she finished her apple. Kailey was fairly pretty, and I'm sure she was capable of killing walkers. We all stood up and walked away from the wreck of a helicopter. We stepped back onto the road and followed it. We've been walking for at least a day and a half. I think we finally found it after another hours walk. We walked up the dirt road and found ourselves in a graveyard. This is where my mothers group was supposed to be. Instead, she just gnawed on the mangled corpse of that boy, Randall. She had become a walker.

"This must've happened not too long ago," Kailey stated.

"How do you know?" I ask.

"See the blood on that tent? It's fresh. Still warm," She replied.

"Maybe happened at night," Michonne said.

I kicked a bucket out of sheer anger at my stupidity. Why didn't I stay? Maybe I could've stopped the walkers from killing everybody in this area... Or maybe I would have just been food for the walkers.

"Must've been that horde from the farm..." I mutter to myself.

"So now what?" Michonne asked.

"Maybe we could stay here and fix up a tent," I said.

"No way," Kailey said firmly, "What if more walkers come?"

"We could go back. That deer cooler we were in was pretty cozy," Michonne said with sarcasm.

"Lets go and find that group. The ones who were at the helicopter. Maybe they aren't as bad as we thought," I stated.

"Or maybe their worse," Kailey said negatively.

I rolled my eyes and drove my knife into the skull of my resurrected mother. I nod to them and we left. Again... This was all my fault.

The moon was up, high in the sky. Michonne had set a fire. Kailey was creeped out by Michonne's pet walkers. I ate the last of our food supply after Michonne and Kailey ate. I had myself wrapped in a warm blanket. The weather was just starting to get warm so I still had a blanket to warm me.

"Unless Kailey can hunt, we better find some food," Michonne stated.

"I can't," Kailey said.

"Those people can't be too far. That was only yesterday," I say.

"But they had vehicles. So they could be miles away," Michonne said harshly.

"Just trust me, alright? Were gonna be fine," I reassured, "I promise."

The sun was shining and my knife was sharp. We walked a few kilometres and passed the crash of the helicopter. We walked through a forest and found ourselves outside a prison.

"I wonder where the walkers are," Kailey said.

"Probably inside..." I said.

But I did see one figure through the fence... This was no walker... Rick!
