We left when the sun rised without any attention. We returned to the blockage of vehicles and bodies. This place seemed to be untouched accept for one thing... A note on a car... With food and water on it.
"Sophia, stay here. We will come every day," Jordan read.
"Sophia and the group were here!" Elise cried.
"Who is Sophia? What group?" Leo asked.
"Sophia was part of the group we were in. By the looks of this note, the group was here," I said.
"They said they will come every day," Jordan stated.
"So we should wait for th-"
Elise was interrupted by countless amounts of moans coming from behind us.
"The herd!" Leo shouted.
He took out his katana sword and slashed a walker in half and stabbed the brain. Elise took out her pistol and blindly shot into the herd. Jordan took her time to blast the brains out of them. A walker tackled me down and pinned me to the ground. It snapped it's teeth in my face, while at the same time, leaking it's oddly dark blood in my face. I took out my pistol and fired. The gunshot killed the walker and it fell off of me. I shot the first two walkers that came at me as I got to my feet. To save ammo, I put my gun back and took out my knife. I plunged it into the rotted skull of a walker and it's blood sprayed out onto my clothes. I kicked the body away and stabbed at another. Leo slayed the final walker that attempted to bite into me. I looked as if I took a bath in blood. About a dozen more walkers came from behind me. I had no choice but to retreat into the forest. As I ran, it looked as if arms came from behind the trees and tried to grab at me. But I knew it was not real. I tripped over a root, got back up, and in front of me stood Sophia. Eyes wide.
"Sophia!" I shouted.
A walker came from behind her. I took out my pistol and aimed carefully. I shot. The bullet passed through Sophia's shoulder and into the walkers head. Sophia and the walker had collapsed onto the ground in a pool of blood. I lifted Sophia up, into my arms and looked around. I had no idea where I came from. None of it looked familiar. I had no choice but to run in the direction in which my mind said was right.
"Sophia... It's going to be okay. I promise you: I won't let you go... I won't let you die," I said to her as I ran.
Her eyes were shut. Her body was seemingly motionless in my arms. But that may be because I'm running and I can only feel my own movement.
"Please, Sophia. Breathe... Breathe..." I pleaded.
My only thought was Sophia and how I needed to get her to safety... I need to save her. I came close to tripping but I tried my hardest to continue running. I found myself in a field. I saw a farm in the distance. I only hoped the house wasn't filled with walkers. That would mean the end of both of us. But I continued to run. My legs were beginning to lose their strength. Sophia was a heavy burden, despite her small weight. I came closer to the house. A family stood on the house porch. Wether they were walkers or not, I could not tell. My eyes were blurry with tears.
"Almost there," I said to Sophia. "Almost..."
It was then I saw tents by a few trees... It was then I saw living people... It was then I collapsed onto the ground an fell into darkness.
