The following day you were stuck with investigation work with Evie and Henry. It seems that since Dr. Elliotson was dead a group of armatures were creating what they called medicine which only made people sicker. It was hard to imagine that the absent of the asylum and Dr. Elliotson could bring any harm to London. But when you were sat bending over a map of London where people had told you they bought the medicine on the black market, Jacob walk out without saying a word. Evie looked after him when he jumped off the train and turned to you.
"Do you have any idea where my brother is heading all the time?" She asked you and you just shrugged. You were sure it had something to do with the lady he met up with the other day so it was not really your business.
"Maybe we should have asked him before he left again?" Evie then looked at Henry but Henry only laughed.
"I'm sure it's just something with his Rooks, dear Evie. No worries. It's not like he could ruin the whole kingdoms economy or something like that. I know he is capable of doing a lot of things, but I'm sure that whatever he is doing will only be to our advantage in the end." Henry said and both you and Evie glared at him. Even though you hadn't known Jacob for that long, you knew he was a bigger idiot than Henry gave him credit for.
"I'll go check on him." You said fast and got up.
"Good idea, y/n." Evie said. It looked like she was on her way as well, but sat down again before you jumped of the train and headed the same way you saw Jacob ran the moment before.

It didn't take long before you found out the way he was heading. You found a few Blighters knocked out in an alleyway which could only be his work. You knew you were close to the river on the southern side because you could smell the urine from afar, because of the hot weather that heated up the Thames. It must be unbearable to live close to the water, you thought. You jumped up a building and continued on the roofs to attract less attention to your hooded character in the streets. You stopped when you were a block away from the river and saw a suspicious looking carriage that wasn't moving. You used your especially good vision to look inside and there he was. Jacob was sat across a lady. You could see through the crack in the curtains that she was wearing a beautiful red dress with such detail that indicated it was very expensive. It must be the lady from a few days before. Did he really meet up with her every day now? It must be serious then, you thought to yourself and felt a little jealous. You couldn't tell if it was towards her or just the love itself. It seemed so wonderful in the eyes of the characters you had played in the theatre so many times but it had never been shown towards you in reality, so it was weird to look at something you had only imagined in plays.
When the woman opened a bottle of what seemed like champagne you were kind of confused. Were they celebrating something? It couldn't be that they were already engaged? He hadn't mentioned this lady towards you or even his sister so it couldn't be that, could it? The moment after Jacob jumped out of the carriage and before you could hide behind the chimney, that you have had a tight grip on the whole time, Jacob caught your eyes for a split second. You hurried and jumped to the next roof but you could already hear the sound of his gripping hook behind you and you knew you could not outrun him. You jumped down in a small courtyard between some building and you could hear him dump down behind you.
"Why are you sneaking around and spying on me, Love?" He said and you could hear that he was smiling before you turned around to face him. He took off his top hat and dusted it off with his hand before placing it back on his head.
"Evie was worried what you were up to, but we didn't know you were meeting up with a woman. I'm sorry that I disturbed you." You spat. It wasn't on purpose though.
