Lydia's POV :

"Oh god I'm sorry I'm late , you have no idea what I've been through, " I said pulling my best friend into a hug.

"Nah it's totally okay, I just got here" she replied while hugging me back "What happened ?" She asked as we started walking down the street, we were going to have lunch in this amazing restaurant that I heard, serves the most tasty food in this area.

"Well , first of all, I had to wait in the line for almost an hour to finally get my coffee, and when I was making my way to you it started raining, and guess what ? Some person bumped into me spilling my coffee all over me. And he was so mean and rude, he didn't at least apologize you know ! He just offered me money because he thought I made that scene to get a few dollars from his honour," I took a large breath because I had to say that all at once. Wew.

-------

"How was he? Was he hot?" My best friend Wren asked as we took our seats in a table right next to a window.

"Seriously Wren ? I'm telling you this guy was so rude to me See I did not wear these heels and spend money on this makeup so that some cocky ass guy comes and disrespects me. " I said, it was true though, I didn't even need money. I had my job, my own decent apartment and my car. I looked around the restaurant and I was quite amazed with its structure , it was well decorated and it looked fancy, the drinks are also good so far. I spotted an old woman sitting in a corner alone, she seemed to be waiting for her plate, she was holding a magazine in her hands and going through the pages.

I focused a bit on the cover of the magazine because the person on it looked familiar. My eyes went wide the moment I realized who it was and I turned to Wren.

"Wren!" I yelled. " That's him! That's him on that magazine!" I said pointing to the magazine I was looking at.

Wren looked closely at the cover of the magazine, looked back at me, then the magazine again, then back at me.

"No way ! Are you sure ?" She asked in disbelief.

"Yes ! Positive !" I shrugged.

"Seriously Lydia ? Alec Lightwood? Out of all the people you could have possibly bumped into , you chose Alec Lightwood?"

"Well , technically he bumped into me , besides , How do you know him?"

"How do I know him?" She waved her hands in the air. "How don't you know him ! Seriously dude , you're living in an entire different world , You're asking me how I know know not only the richest and the most successful but also the hottest guy in this country? Man. That explains offering you money , these people think that they can get whatever they want with their money, plus everyone knows that he's so arrogant and audacious." I was listening to her confused trying to acknowledge all of the information she just fed me with.

"Okay you know what ? I don't have giving a fuck scheduled in my to-do list for today, so let's forget this ever happened ." I finally said, and I meant it. People bump into each other all the time, there's no need to make a big deal out of this

"Okay whatever," She shook it off finally. "So I packed all of our stuff and our flight is tomorrow morning," She announced.

"Sounds great ! I missed Chicago anyway," I stuffed a spoon of soup in mouth and looked down at my delicious plate.

I really had fun in Los Angeles, we've been here for only a week yet Wren and I managed to discover a lot of places despite our job that we had to take care of.

Wren and I were both lawyers, we worked for the same agency and had at least to travel once a month to different places because of work. That's what kept our career entertaining yet tiring sometimes.
