Lydia POV
"Now, I need you to get your ass ready as soon as possible. Because we're going on a trip."
"A trip ?" I raised my eyebrow and he nodded. "You and I ?" He nodded again. "You and I are going on a trip together ?" I asked.
"Yeah," he said.
"Where to ? And why ?" I was still trying to understand the whole situation, I watched as Alec walked around my room then laid in my bed.
"To your hometown,"
"My hometown ? And why is that ?"
"Well I," He sat up, "I spent last night in my father's office going through his papers, and I didn't find anything related between Dylan and I."
"What does that mean ?"
"It means that something's missing." He said and I shrugged. "Come on Lydia ! You're not really buying the coincidence shit right ?"
"Why wouldn't I ? There are a lot of people who look alike in this planet." I stated a fact.
"Yeah but not in this case," he said and I looked away. "Listen Lydia," Alec stood up and walked around the room again, until he was facing me. "Since I was a child, I always felt like there's something missing. There was always something that felt wrong, my parents would always shake me off whenever I asked them about how my life was before the accident. They would say the same words; always. Once I asked them about my pictures when I was a kid, they said that they put all of the photographs in the car trunk for some reason so all of the pictures were gone after the car accident.
I never bought that shit, how in hell didn't they have any picture of me when I was a kid ?
I always had my doubts but I never asked any of my parents about it because I didn't have a proper motive. But now I do !
I do and I won't stop searching and looking until I find out the truth,"
Alec had his hands on my shoulders, this whole thing seemed to mean a lot to him. I'm still shocked because he just confessed his feelings and what's inside of him to me, Alec never looked like someone who would open up to someone easily, or ever.
"Okay," I finally said looking up at him. "Okay, okay. What do you have in mind ?" I asked him.
"Well if there's actually something hidden, we'll eventually find out. But my dad is such a smart guy, if there are important documents my father wouldn't hide them in his office. He'd put them somewhere where no one can find them, so I suggest we look somewhere else because we if dad is hiding something. There's no way in hell we would ever find it."
"Okay then what ?" I asked confused.
"We go to Yellow Springs and I'm going to meet the mayor of the town, he must have some secrets hidden. And I'm going to make him spill them." He explained, this time serious.
"Make him ? What do you mean make him ? How ?" I asked afraid.
"You'll see," He winked.
"Okay that's creepy." I said. "And why would I go with you ?" I asked.
"Because you're the one who seems to know a lot about Dylan and his family, so when I'll ask the mayor questions he won't be able to lie."
"Well, I don't know. This is all so-"
"Come on Lydia," he interrupted me. He was looking down at me and leaning close so we'd face each other. "I only asked for your help once, plus it's so important."
"I don't know, it's not that I don't want to help you it's just that this whole thing came out of nowhere and it's so confusing." I looked down.
"I know it is, but we're going there to get all the answers we need. Don't you want to figure out the truth behind your bestfriend's death too ?"
