Just Say Sorry

Chapter 16

Alec has just entered his house, he had all of the papers and the DNA test in his hands. Yet he still stood in his place, thinking about from where he'll start the conversation with his dad.

Alec took a deep breath then walked in the living room, it was empty.

He looked around the place when his father-Chris entered the living room.

"Hey Alec, is everything okay ?" He asked as he sat on the sofa, turning on the T.V

"Do you know where I was ?" Alec asked him, looking down at Chris.

"Where ? At work ?" Chris said, oblivious about the whole situation.

"No," Alec said, his tone serious now. Chris turned off the TV and was now focusing on what his son is saying.

Alec bit his lip then finally said, "I went to Lydia's house, I dragged her to yellow springs, we went to her mother's house, then I ended up in a plane heading to Florida, then I found myself in my mother's house. My actual mother. Martha."

You could see that Chris was nervous by the look on his face, yet still confused from the whole situation.

"Son, what are you talking about ? Chris asked.

"Don't call me son !" Alec shouted. "Why did you hide all of this from me ?" He asked. "You realise that my life was based on a lie for the past fourteen years? I discovered that I have a whole another family and a brother and a sister -twins to be specific-. Not to mention the guilt I've been living in for the past few days, because I was living the comfortable life I didn't choose while my actual family had to suffer life's difficulties."

Alec took a deep breath looking away from his father's gaze, he then continued. "Don't you feel guilty ? Don't you feel ashamed of what you've done !" He asked, finally looking to his father in the eyes. All he could see was the surprise on his face. "Don't you feel bad for depriving a mother from her own son ? You're responsible for this ! You're responsible for all of this. Actually you all are !" Alec said. "You, my "mother" and maybe even some of my relatives." He pointed.

"Listen son -Alec," Chris corrected himself. "You dont understand, I can explain-" Chris tried to say, "You know we love you and we raised you like our own child, I know that it was wrong for us to do that but you have to understand that-"

"But I have to understand huh ? Understand what ? What part do you want me to understand exactly ?" Alec shut his eyes, breathed then continued. He threw the DNA test and the papers on the table, "I can't believe that I've looked up to you all this time. Not anymore... Chris." Alec said then left the room, disappointment covering his face.

Alec quit his house and walked to his car, he climbed in and stayed in it for a while. He thought about everything that has changed in his life and what will change from now on.

But he quickly cleared his head and started the car, heading to his favourite bar.

Lydia was sitting on the couch with Wren, both of them had two mugs of coffee in their hands. It was already past 8pm, but Wren has managed to come over so she can get all the explanations why Lydia has disappeared for a long while.

"So basically all of this happened and you didn't even call ?" Wren asked casually, Lydia sipped her coffee after finishing a long speech.

"I was so confused and focused on what we were going through so I didn't find time to actually think straight," Lydia explained, making a sad apologizing face.

Wren rolled her eyes annoyed, then immediately burst out laughing. "Okay I forgive you," She patted Lydia's shoulder.

"You know if such important events haven't happened I wouldn't have forgave you," Wren admitted.
