Hera marched out of her bedroom and transported herself to the other side of the snow-caped mountain, her long brown hair flowing under her golden crown. As she reached for the hidden doorknob it opened revealing a cloaked figure.

“What can I do for you, my queen?” the figure bowed not showing its face.

“I hear there is a new prophecy. I must hear it so I know the rumors are false,” Hera stepped through the door and presented herself to the woman.

“My master says you are unable to hear the prophecy. He thinks you impulsive,” the woman hissed removing her hood revealing her dark black snake eyes and scaly skin. Although she looked reptilian like she was beautiful.

“Please, Delphi. I must know and if Zeus has not restricted me then I have a right to hear it,” Hera stared into the spirit’s eyes.

“Yes, my queen,” Delphi’s eyes turned green as she began to recite the prophecy,

“The Child of Legend will be born

To replace the Olden Queen

Sworn by the sea

Intelligent that child be

And loved by one and all

But although she is immortal

Her death cannot be stalled.”

“What does this mean? I am to be replaced?” Hera asked Delphi.

“The child will be better and stronger than you, but that is not the worst part,” Delphi grinned devilishly. She knew she had already said too much.

“What is it?” Hera lost her temper and shouted.

“The child could very well be a demigod,” Delphi chortled. “You could loose your thrown to a half blood.”

Hera stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her. She hated having to deal with the spirits. They never showed any respect to her, and most of them have tempted her husband. He would never replace her. She was the goddess of marriage and family. Wasn’t she the mediator for her family’s constant quarrels? Didn’t her fellow gods and goddesses appreciate her?

Of course not, Hera answered for herself. No one appreciated her. Zeus cheated, her children disappointed her, and the demigods never won battles in her name. She was despised.

She wouldn’t let them get to her. She would find the one in the prophecy and kill her. She get make sure she would return to her former glory. Return as the new and improve queen of the heavens.
