Sage stirred in her sleep. A strange purple mist formed a person in front of her. It was a woman with beautiful long hair in a swaying mystical dress.

“Sage,” she came up behind her and whispered in her ear. “She’s is close. She is looking for him and when she finds him she’ll kill him and you.”

“Who are you?” Sage was paralyzed, unable to turn around.

“I am the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite,” her voice was soothing. “My boyfriend, Ares, say a battle will happen but Hades will intervene. Just make sure my Calvin is safe.”

Sage woke up just as the blue light flashed o the other side of the park. Children of Hermes were allowed to transport freely if their father gives them the right. She got up and started to shake Chelsea.

“Guys get up! There’s someone over on the other side of the park. I think it might be Cassidy!” Sage screamed. The only child of Hermes that would be after them was Charlie’s psychotic sister.

“Are you sure?” Charlie gasped. It was a high possibility considering that she was following them.

“Maybe, we got to go if it is!” Sage yelled. “Everyone get up now!” She gathered the packs, and hurried every half-blood. They tried to run, but it was too late.

Standing in front of them was a curly brown haired girl with complexions similar to Charlie’s. “Ha-ha. It is so funny Charles. It was almost like you didn’t want to see me!” She smiled maliciously.

“Cass, please this is between you and me. Leave my friends alone.” Charlie begged the girl.

Cass stepped aside to reveal two other kids around her age. The girl was bulky with black straight hair in a high ponytail. The boy was shorter than her with blonde hair and black holes for eyes. “If I bring Justin and Blaze into this then it also would include your friends because I’m including mine!” Blaze and Justin laughed.

Lucy stepped forward and glared at Blaze, “Hey Blaze as much as I would love to send your pitiful soul to my dad…I’ll give you a choice. Leave now or die!”

Blaze took out a sword, and pointed it at Lucy. “Why don’t I send you to your dad. You don’t deserve to live you ugly daughter of the dead.”

Just as Blaze was about to slit her throat Lucy disappeared. She came back behind Blaze, and started playing her flute. While she was playing, Justin drew his sword. Sage advanced on him, and their swords made an awful metal sound. Blaze didn’t know what to do, so she went for Calvin. He stood defenselessly in the middle of the fight. Before he has never had to defend himself because of his looks and persuasive tongue, but he was so terrified now that he couldn’t move. Just as Blaze’s sword came down Calvin jumped backwards sending him into a run into the woods. Chelsea stormed in with her small basalt dagger and occupied Blaze. She ducked under her sword before plunging her dagger into Blaze’s forearm. Other than that one move she was no match for the bulky large girl, but Chelsea did not wish to win she wished to distract her for a while.

Calvin grabbed Genna’s arm as he ran and led her safely into the woods. Seth took out his sword, but Sage yelled for him to go. He ran after Cal and Genna. Charlie and Cassidy were fighting pretty well, but neither of them was winning. Cassidy’s weapon was her shield. It was big and heavy which meant that every time Charlie got close enough she hit him on the head with it sending him backwards in a trance for thirty seconds. Charlie was a lot better at fighting but he seemed to be holding back where as Cassidy was fighting like a maniac.

Finally Lucy stopped playing and a crack opened in the earth. Six skeleton warriors came from the ground. One of them grabbed the weakly that was Justin. Three grabbed Blaze from behind and the other two took Cassidy and held her back. The fight was over and they all could breath a little. Seth, Cal, and Genna came back from a place the woods where they could see everything.

“I guess we owe you an apologize Lucy,” Sage said.

“And you guys thought I was crazy.” Lucy laughed.

They ran into the woods. The further away from the scene the better. Once they reached a spot in the woods that was far from the enemies they collapsed on the ground.

“What was that about!” Genna freaked.

“Cass is Charlie’s younger sister. They are full siblings,” Sage tried to get her breathing back to normal where as Genna seemed unfazed by the long sprint.

“Why was she trying to kill us then?” she sat down.

“We haven’t gotten along ever since our mother died,” Charlie put his hand over the cut on him forehead, trying to stop the bleeding.

“You’re hurt!” Genna kneeled in front of him to inspect the wound. “Forgive me for asking but how did your mother died. I sense guilt inside you.” She grabbed a bandaged and gauze out of her backpack.

Charlie starred at the young stranger. She had kindness in her eyes. He wanted to tell her everything for some reason, “I killed her.” His eyes instantly turned red. Genna didn’t step back after the statement. Instead she leaned in closer and touched the gauze to him cut. “Hera cursed me to get revenge on my father. I killed my mom then I tried to kill Cassidy. If it wasn’t for Lucy I would have killed myself too.” A tear fell down his cheek.

Genna put the bandage on his cut then wiped the tear from his face. “I can understand how you feel. Hera is after me now.” She turned towards Lucy. “Now you have shame inside.”

“How can you tell?” Lucy asked. “Can you read emotions or something.”

“I don’t really know why or how, but I can read emotions.” Genna got up and put the rest of the gauze in her backpack. “Charlie is now relieved and yet you are still shameful. What is bothering you?”

Lucy took out her flute and a handkerchief, “My mom’s catholic. Kind of ironic considering she dated Hades. Any way she sent me to a catholic boarding school after she got married. I guess I’m ashamed of myself because my dad was ashamed of me. He told me that I had to run away and find the safe house or he’d put me in the Asphodel fields. That’s when he gave me my flute.” She cleaned it with the cloth.

“How did you two meet?” Genna asked Charlie and Lucy.

“I found him on my way to the safe house. I could tell he was under a curse so I played my flute for the first time. The curse was broken my music and that was before my dad taught me how to play the tunes that opened the mortal and summon the dead.” Lucy smiled.

Charlie got up and took out his sleeping bag, “I think we should rest for the night. Cassidy won’t find us out here.”
