Chapter 4
The water was starting to turn warm around me and the surface have an odd orangy red glow. The instict that told me to jump in the water was now urging me to swim to where the water isn't orangy red. Without wasting my breathfloating in one spot, I started to swim to where the water was blue with only a faint yellow glow.
I made fast progress, I mean I wasn't captain of the Burnsville swimming team for nothing. I can also hold my breath longer than an average person since Phillip and I have holding our breath contests every summer. At first, he wins, but then, being very competitive, I perfected my skill until I can go for 3 minutes straight without breathing and have always beaten Phillip since.
When I was about 25 feet from the aqua water, I ran out of breath and started to feel panicky and dizzy. I took longer and faster strides and kicks. Just when I was about to faint, I whip my head above the water and gulp down air greddily. It was one of these moments that you really appriciate the things that you thought was small in your life and took it for granted. I swam for shore once I caught my breath.
I kissed the ground once I was on it and look around at my surroundings. The sun is shining brightly on the sky.The lake was on fire in the middle, except for a circle in the miidle. Four helicopters are above it, rescuing people on the boats. Well, that was stupid of me, running( swimming, whatever) away from rescuing helicopters. I look around again. Make that swimming away from rescuing helicopters into A FOREST. I waved my arms and shout as loud as I can. The helicopters didn't turn my way or show any sign that it or the peopla inside heard or saw me.
Of course they can't hear or see you, you idiot, I thought agrily to myself, the blades are blocking out the noise and anything else was drowned by the cries of the other passengers. It's also not like I'm wearing glow in the dark neon clothes, I'm wearing black sweats, black hoodies and a gray T shirt. I know what you're thinking: aaaaahhhh, you're emo, you're goth, blah blah blah. I'm not an emo or a goth, I just tends to dress according to my mood, and I was sad and mad when I pick out the outfit. I thought that I was stupid, but then someone shot at an old lady who was crawling slowly onto the ladder and she came tumbling down into the fire. Instead of a splash of water like you would expect it would happen, but a splash of fire.
The helicopters are starting to rise higher fly away when the passengers are all aboard, including my parents. I would climb up there too if I were them even though I knew they were murderers, I probably have more chance of suvival with them than in the woods. I was prepared to see my only hope of survival dissapeare in the horizon, but instead they just flew about a mile to my right and landed on something. I quickly followed it into the woods, with my dripping, wet hoodies tied around my waist, trying hard not to make a sound. A minute passed when I heard footsteps in front of me. I quickened my pace to a power walk. I can see a silhouette of a person, a boy acttually, a muscular, tall boy that is. He's wearing black pants that fitted him perfectly, not like those baggy pants that always show the wearer's boxer or those tight jeans that looks gay. He's also wearing a tight gray V-neck that showed off his shoulders, arms-Stop, I yelled at myself, this is not the time for teeange hormones. I reaminded myself that he might be with one the muderers. I tackled him and put my hand over his mouth.
