Chapter 34: Game Over

Vanessa's P.O.V

"This is so exciting, it's like Fast n Furious" Luke said like a kid who just got his favorite game.

"It's not a movie or a game Luke" Lucy said to him and he just smiled apologetically. She was fixing their bulletproof jackets while I was connecting their ear pieces to everyone else's. I still didn't want them to come especially with what just happened. I didn't realize I was staring at Luke until he spoke up.

"Oh god! I know that look" He said exasperatedly. I raised my brow and he gave me a sour look.

"You're thinking about not letting us go" He said glaring at me and I sighed.

"Look I don't want you both to get hurt" I said and he shook his head.

"We have bulletproof jackets on, we're gonna be talking to you the whole time. And we're only going to be driving Vanessa. I don't know if you know this or not but I've driven before so it's nothing new to me really" He said and I rolled my eyes.

"If something happens-"

"You will know!! You're literally going to be in our ear so you'll be hearing everything" He said and I finally nodded my head walking to them and putting the ear pieces properly.

"Okay, fine. Keep these on yourself at all times, okay?" I said placing very speck-like GPS trackers inside their jackets.

"And make sure you keep us updated. We need minute by minute report" Lucy instructed to them. They nodded again.

"Go to El, she'll give you both the routes you need to follow" I said.

"What about you two?" Zach asked and Lucy glanced at me.

"We need to do something else first, we'll be right there" She said and they both nodded leaving us alone.

"C'mon we don't have much time" I said to her and she took in a shaky breath and we both started walking to Shawn's office where Duke had locked himself. Marie tried to get in but it was useless, Duke wasn't replying to anything or opening the door.

"What am I supposed to say to him?" She asked as we were walking down the hall.

"You're seriously asking me?" I asked chuckling, she rolled her eyes.

"Stop worrying, you're his favorite. He'll forgive you" I said and she nodded. We knocked on the door and obviously didn't get any reply what so ever.

"Duke, open the door. We need to talk" I said and surprisingly we heard the click of the door being unlocked. We opened it and stepped inside. Duke had his back towards us and he was standing near the huge window that gave you a view of the backyard of the house. For a while, it was deadly silent. I nudged Lucy and she looked at me wearily, she was scared. We were talking wordlessly when all of a sudden Duke spoke up.

"What's the plan?" He asked still facing the window. Lucy wasn't speaking so I started explaining to him everything we had planned.

"How are you going to convince him to come there?" Duke asked, finally turning around. His face was stone hard but his eyes gave away all the exhaustion and sadness he was feeling. He was only looking at me as if Lucy wasn't even in the room. I glanced at her and she was staring at him with a hurt look in her eyes. I moved closer to the desk.

"Uh Dan and Robert said they know how we could talk to him, we're going to show him that we've given up and we're surrendering. He'll fall for it and we'll say that we want to meet so we can make a deal" I said and he nodded.
