Chapter 2: Our New Assignment

Lucy's P.O.V

"Fuck" Vanessa just had to swear.

"Shut up" I said elbowing her.

"OW" she cried. Drama Queen

"Why don't you girls have a seat" Mr.Brewn said bringing us back to reality.

Josh brewn was the owner of this whole thing. It was his. We have never seen him before. We only got to hear about him from Shawn or sometimes Duke also mentioned him but never have we ever seen him. Woah! Man this must be freaking big.

Turning to Vanessa I noticed she must be thinking the same thing. Or so I thought.

"So… You are his boss?" she asked pointing towards Duke. Ofcourse she must be thinking that.

I could see Chief glaring at her but he didn't spoke anything as his boss was sitting infront of him. Ironic isn't it. The boss of our boss is sitting infront of us.

"Yes" He answered unsure of where this conversation was going to.

"You know he isn't really doing a good jo-"

"It’s an honor to finally meet you sir" I said cutting her off knowing where this conversation was gonna lead to. I heard Chief sigh in relief with a thankful glance at me and Vanessa giving me a glare. Our glaring match was finally over when he cleared his throat to have our attention.

"Any special reason why you're here?" Vanessa questioned being her usual rude-dude self.

"What she meant was is there something you want us to do" I said trying to sound more respectful.

"What's the difference?" Vanessa said earning a glare from me and finally shuting up and sulking into her seat.

"As a matter of fact yes, yes there is something you both have to do." He said clearly amused by our bickering.

"Oh I wonder what it is" Vanessa retorted sarcastically rolling her eyes.

"I am really thrilled by your curiosity, Vanessa" He replied with the same sarcasm shocking all of us even Vanessa was shocked but quickly covered it with that façade of hers.

"Sir would you like to tell them the real reason they're here for" Chief said growing impatient.

"Yeah Duke hold your horses am getting there" sir replied.

"Nice, I like you man!" Vanessa said fist bumping him across the table. And he did it back maybe he was Vanessa's type.

"Same here" he replied smirking towards Chief. Maybe they didn’t like each other that much.

"Okay now on serious note. There's a new assignment for you girls" He said getting to business.

"You girls must've heard about Shawn's death" he paused to see our reaction which was blank. We never gave away our emotion .Never.

"He was shot in 59th avenue street. He knew something. Shawn had been doing research on a case. Day and night he would’ve been working .There was a reason behind it." We suddenly got curious as to what reason was it.

"You know where he lives right" he asked

"Yeah in Roseville. A small town near the city" I answered.

"Exactly. Marie and his son are also there and we think his son is in danger" he said

"What?!" We both said at the same time.

 "What do you mean?" I asked

"According to our sources and the research Shawn did, something's going on in Roseville"
