Chapter 22: Cliché Past

Vanessa's P.O.V

The past two hours have been the most boring two hours of my existence. I have never felt this bored ever. God! It was unbelievable the way Duke could go on and on. And it just wasn’t him it was Chris and Marie too.

You see, we needed to go back and the only way to do that was to call someone and then they picked us up. After considering a lot of our options we realized that our only option was calling Chris, so we did it. He came, all quiet and stone hard face. We arrived back at Luke's house and the moment we entered the house Duke and Chris exploded like grenades. They told us how it was a stupid idea, how we should be careful, how it was a stupid idea, how we should be careful. And the same again and again for the next two hours. But really, we were way too damn exhausted to actually listen to him, so after an hour passed all of us were dozing off but we would jolt up when Duke would scold us.

"Okay, Duke I think that’s enough. They're obviously not listening and they haven’t slept for the past two days, let them rest" Marie, the kind goddess she is, stopped Duke and we finally got to sleep but not before she warned us.

"Its 11 in the morning it's your exam tomorrow, I'm gonna wake up all four of you around 9 at night and I expect you to study all night, Understood?" She had asked and we all nodded. I personally didn’t have the energy to get up and go to the room so I just dozed off right there on the living room couch. Lucy curled up in a ball on the loveseat. While Zach and Luke slept right there on the floor of the living room.

"Vanessa, sweetie, get up" I heard the sweet, kind voice of Marie, she was stroking my hair in that motherly kind of way and I looked at her rubbing my eyes, willing them to open. When I was finally awake I smiled at her and hugged her.

"Good morning" I said to her all hyped.

"It's night, Vanessa" She chuckled lightly before patting my back and standing up. I sat up straight, rubbing my eyes and yawning.

"Hey!" Lucy said bouncing on the couch. I looked at her questioningly and she shrugged, grinning. I also grinned at her. I'm sure if anyone was to see us right now they'd probably send us to a mental asylum. We were making ridiculous faces at each other.

"Girls?" We heard Marie whisper and we looked at her she was standing near Luke and Zach. She pointed to them and I looked at them, my eyes widened and soon my face broke into a grin. Luke and Zach both were hugging each other. It was such a cute scene, their legs were tangled and they were holding each other tightly.

"Aw!" Lucy cooed and a wicked idea hit me. I took my phone out and started snapping pictures; even Lucy took out her phone and snapped a few pics. We grinned wickedly at each other before another idea hit me and I snapped my fingers, whispering in her ear. We high-fived and Marie gave us a questioning look before shaking her head and going to the kitchen. Guess, she figured our plan.

Lucy and I slowly crept to them, Lucy bent down behind Zach while I bent down behind Luke. We started counting, One, two,…three.

"AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" We both screamed loudly in their ears.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" They both screamed even loudly but stopped when Lucy and I started laughing, there were tears in my eyes, but my laughing slowed down to a nervous chuckle when I saw Luke and Zach glaring at Lucy and I.
