Chapter 30:It didn’t go as I planned

Vanessa’s P.O.V

“I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you everything” He said, this burning rage in his eyes. I released the breath I had been holding. This was going to take some while.

“I was also a sophomore back then. I loved clicking pictures of different things; things that intrigued me. Your parents…they were one of those things” Mr. Craig said smiling at us and we smiled back. We were sitting on the couch opposite to the one Mr. Craig and his family was sitting on.

“Everyone loved them; they were possibly the kindest, sweetest and most fun people. They helped everybody. George and James were really athletic; they had won so many trophies for our school. Angelina was most likely a certified genius” He said chuckling, his eyes twinkling with happiness as if those were the best times of his life.

“Catherine was the student body president, the most sophisticated and mature out of the four. Everything was so good for them until…” He left the sentence hanging, rubbing his hands over his face.

“Take your time, Sir” Lucy said kindly and he gave her a thankful smile. He took in a shaky breath before continuing once again.

“Christopher John Andrew, one of the most snobbiest and selfish person I have ever seen. He was a junior at that time, he only had two more friends I don’t really remember their names but everybody knew that those three were bad news, the rebels; all three of them looked down at everybody else. As if they weren’t worthy of them but then one day I saw John talking to Angelina and Catherine I knew what was happening so I went to George and James and told them. I never got to know what happened because I went to class but there were rumors that John had said sorry and left. After a few days passed I saw John hanging out with them a lot. Surprisingly, he was acting really nice with them and everybody had started saying that he had changed but I knew better” Mr. Craig said bitterly and I sent him a questioning glance.

“I was a victim of his mean tactics and evil ways, in freshmen year he had humiliated me in front of everyone. I hated him ever since. So when I saw them hanging out I didn’t like it, I knew he never acted like that unless it was benefiting him in some way or if he wanted something so that’s why one day I followed them to James’s house. I thought I’d see him doing something wrong to them but instead I saw them really bonding with each other and having a good time. That’s when I clicked that picture in the yearbook” He said referring to the picture we had showed him earlier.

“There’s another thing” Mr. Craig said pausing for a while before continuing.

“I used to live a little far from the school at that time; I used to ride my bicycle to school every day. I always took the shortcut which was said to be dangerous but I still went from there being careful. I was passing through an alley when I heard shouting from the other side of the wall, I recognized the voices immediately”

“It was Angelina, Catherine and John, I peeked from the wall and I saw John trying to force them into this place. I hadn’t known until later that it was a club, a not so good club” Mr. Craig said glancing at his son who seemed to be really into the story. I tightened my fists hearing that; he was definitely a sick bastard.

“There was no one around and I knew I had to help them, there was no way I would’ve been able to fight him so I picked a rock and aimed at John’s head I knew I was being stupid but I didn’t know what else to do. I threw it at him and he turned around that gave Angelina and Catherine enough time to run out of there. Once I saw they were far away I also rushed out of there, pedaling as fast as I could”
