Leah's POV

One Month Later ...

Nesting is a real thing. I thought the maternity book were full of it when they stated women would feel the urge to clean and prepare their home for their newborn. However, I hate to admit I was wrong. I have been scrubbing, moping, and washing everything. Sometimes I would wake up from my sleep and go and stand in the room we were currently using as the den and envision the baby furniture and how I would want it arranged. Jake and I were waiting on his next payment to get all the furniture we needed settled. I felt like time was winding down. It was strange Dr. Cullen stated he felt the babies were going at double the speed of a normal child. He felt I would be ready to give birth in a few weeks. My nerves were on edge and I felt ... helpless.

My feeling of helplessness is what made me linger in bed today. Jake was supposed to be on site with his men checking off some final touches to a renovation. I struggled to sit upright and lazily ran my fingers through my hair. It was then I heard some clinking from the kitchen. I nervously hopped out of bed and went to investigate. I tiptoed down the hallway to see Embry and Seth moving a couch down the hallway. I frowned in confusion.

"Hey Leah," Seth greeted me as he continued to back down the hall. "Yo Jake, she's awake!" Almost instantly Jake popped his head from out of the den.

"Hey Beta Girl," he moseyed over to me and placed lips on top of mind only briefly.

"I thought you had to work today. What is all of this?" Jake took a deep breath and then shrugged.

"We started early, everything's finished, and money has been collected. I figured we could work on this today. I'm doing it for purely selfish reasons. This room makes you leave the bed at night and I sleep better when you're at peace beside me." He wrapped his arms around me as he ushered me into the room. He had my binder all laid out. He picked up and thumbed through the pages. "I looked over some of your favorites. I really like the circus theme or the forest." I reached for the book, I was feeling a lot of things. Emotion built up in the back of my throat and I tried to clear it. Jake and I were doing so well so I wanted to clearly explain what I was feeling.

"Jake, I'm touched," I started slowly as I searched for the words. He narrowed his eyes and placed his hands on his hips as he focused on me.

"But?"

"I just ... I want to be a part of all this I don't want you to do all of it. Part of me feels like I need to do it. I can't explain." I shook my head and covered my face. "I kinda feel put out that I wasn't here when you started." Jacob nodded.

"I told you man, Angie went through the same thing. Women are control freaks when they are knocked up," Embry offered his two scents as he entered the room.

"Leah's always been a touch of a control freak," Jacob offered with a shrug. "We didn't start without you and I wouldn't have. I need to know what you want. I just wanted to move the furniture out surely you know you can't help with that." My fiancé was such a smart ass. In this case he was right and I looked around he really wasn't lying all they did was move the furniture out into Jake's truck.

"So now little woman, you have a blank canvas. I'm sure coming in here before it was hard seeing your vision when the room was already furnished. This should help you make up your mind." I nodded and I was really touched by everything he'd done. His eyes widened with mild horror.

"Please don't cry Leah. I'll put it back and start over if that will make you feel better," he pleaded. I chuckled and tears did flow but only for a second. I wrapped my arms around him and nuzzled my head to his chest.

"I love you," I muttered and I heard one of the guy chuckle. Jake just rubbed my back.

"Ditto Beta Girl, did you want to tell me what you want the room to look like so we can get started?" I sighed and inhaled his scent. A little part of me felt bad I knew he was going to be tormented for this when I left but I couldn't help it. He was kind of my everything right now.

"I like the forest design it was the one I leaning towards. I would swap out the cribs though I want two cribs similar to the ones on page 23." I spoke into his chest.

"Okay, so you want to go shopping with me. I have to take the furniture to the thrift store and then we can shop around. Seth can you pick up some paint to match what's in this picture. Embry I need you to contact your wife and see if she can recreate this and I need to see if we can find carpeting to match the picture. If not we'll stick to hardwood flooring and we'll find another rug. Alright guys we will meet back here at 3:00PM everyone left the house. Jacob and I were the last to leave since I needed to get ready. Once we finally made our departure Jake opened the door to the passenger side and lifted me into his truck with ease. As soon as he got into the truck I grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers. I didn't say a word I just needed the connection. He kissed the back of my hand and pulled off to start our little adventure.
