I must be an idiot. That would be the only explanation as to why I was on my way to Jacob Black's apartment at 11:30 at night. He claimed to have just gotten off work and wanted to go those blueprints like I had wanted. I listened as my Garmin instructed me to turn left.
Only bad things happen this close to midnight.
Maybe I wanted bad, naughty things to happen. By the look of my outfit it looked like I was up to no good I was wearing my little lavender cami and dark denim shorts. I was dressed like I wanted him to look at me.
"Destination on the right." The Garmin stated and I cut the engine. Why was I so nervous? Why did this feel even more taboo than meeting him seven years ago?
"He slept over at my house last night and nothing happened," I reminded myself out loud. I could be anticipating something that Jake didn't even want to happen.
Jacob answered his door with his phone connected to his ear.
"Yeah, it's all finished like you wanted Nance. Yeah you owe me big time." Jacob yawned and ran his hand through his hair. I motioned toward the couch and he nodded for me to have a seat. He followed suit and sat beside me.
"We can discuss that on Sunday. Yeah, I'm about to crash so …. Uh huh … bye." Jake hung up and took a deep breath and turned to me.
"The woman talks too damned much! We work together but she's not my boss sometimes I think she forgets that." He shoved his phone into his pocket and shifted on his coffee table. He opened one and slid the plans out and studied them closely.
"These are pretty simple to follow," he rambled on about terminology I wasn't concerned with. I just only concerned about the style of the thing, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. However, I was polite and faked interest as best I could. I was more focused trying not to ogle the man beside me. He was sitting there in his tight white tank top and grey sweats and he smelled like heaven. I really shouldn't be here with him with my libido behaving this way.
"How long will this take?" I blurted out to get my mind out of the gutter.
"It would probably take a week if we worked on it non-stop. Oh, I talked to Ryan too and he said he could swing by Monday and handle you pipe situation," he chuckled and then leaned back on the couch. I cautiously looked at him out of the corner of my eye. I didn't know why but for some reason I felt shy around, not myself at all. My mouth was dry and my heart was beating SO fast.
"Okay," I whispered and tried to pretend like I was looking at the blueprints.
"So do you like it?" He scooted closer to me and almost whispered it in my ear. I didn't know if he was trying to mess with me or not.
"Uh yeah, Jake … it sounds great … I trust you know what looks good. Based on all the amendments you've made to my house so far I know you have great taste." He looked down and smiled to himself something I said must've amused him.
"Thanks … so you wanna do this?" I nodded he laughed harder.
"Leah, I've never been around you and you be this quiet!" He wrapped his arm around me and shook me. "You wanna tell me what's got you so uptight or do you want me to guess?"
"I'm not being uptight!" I scooted away from him a little and crossed my arms. He gave me an indignant look of disbelief. "I'm not!"
"Okay," he conceded and started rolling his paperwork back up. "So I will start ordering the supplies and I contact you when I have everything I need to start." I guess this was his not so shuttle way of telling me our conversation was over but I didn't want to leave. I want to stay and I wanted to get over this … fearful feeling I was having. I was behaving as if I was a virgin or something. Jake yawned and stretched and I took that as another sign that he was ready for bed.
"Are you coming over when this Ryan guy comes over to my house?" I asked to keep him talking.
"Why? Do you want me to?" He seemed a little confused.
"I wouldn't mind it if you did. I mean you know more about this stuff and I … would actually feel more comfortable with you there," I confessed and he snorted.
"You mean like how comfortable you are around me now?" He had nerve to arch his eyebrow at me. I rolled my eyes at him and shook my head at him. "Leah, get rid of the elephant in the room. We've known each other way too long for you to be acting so weird."
"You're right, Jake you're right. I'm to grown to be acting this way." I scooted toward him and did what I wanted since I'd gotten back into town. I kissed him. I kissed him slow and savored his flavor as I drew his bottom lip into mouth and sucked on it. He seemed startled at first and was barely responding but after a few moments he was right there in the moment with me. I felt his strong hands and they gripped my waist. He slid his tongue into my mouth and we lowered onto the couch. I felt like my insides were on fire. I forgot how fun this was. Jake hitched my legs around his waist but then he pulled back. Both of us were breathing really hard and damn near panting at each other. I was surprised by the serious look on his face. He swallowed hard and his eyes looked like they were watering.
"Leah," he breathed he smoothed his hand along the side of my face. "Is this for real?" He kissed me on the nose and peppered little kisses along my jawline and sucked on my earlobe, God I loved that. I pulled his lips close to mine and our kiss intensified and his hand eventually ended up ducking underneath my blouse.
"I … I've wanted this for so long," I confessed and I pivoted myself closer to him.
"I want all of you," he murmured into my ear. He went to kiss me again went we hear loud rapid knocking on his door.
"JAKE, JAKE!" It was Renesmee and my worst fears came to the forefront of my mind. He hopped up and answered the door with panic in his eyes. She rushed into his arms with tears in her eyes and I sat there on Jake's couch frozen.
"Calm down Ness, what's wrong?"
"Seth, he said he doesn't want to marry me!" She sobbed harder and Jake held her. I took this as a sign. Just as I was about to let my guard down fate reminded me why it was up in the first place. I grabbed my bag from the floor adjusted my shirt and got ready to take my leave.
"Leah! Oh my God Jake I didn't realize you had company!" At least the girl had the decency to seem embarrassed.
"It's cool I was just leaving," I said as I slid past the two.
"You don't have to leave," Jake pleaded and I gave him a look that I felt truly expressed how I was feeling.
"I'll seeya later Jake," I muttered as I left Ness to cry on her Jake's shoulder because at the end of the day Jacob would always be hers.
