Leah's POV

Jacob at work is truly a very attractive thing. He moved in a very causal manner, however his workers all seemed to work harder now that he was on site. I watched him curious if he even noticed. He had tunnel vision and I walked a beat behind him to make sure I wasn't in the way. He motioned for some guy and he asked him to walk through the procedure for setting something. He listened intently and then corrected him in a few places. He showed him what he wanted changed and then we moved into the house. I was shocked he never once asked for Embry I think he rather walk through the house by himself. After circling the living room and the kitchen Jacob looked over to me and gave a little half smile.

"What do you think of this house?" He asked randomly. I looked around it was really huge and not my style but the construction seemed to be done well.

"It's not for me but it's really nice," I said hoping I hadn't offended him.

"Yeah, it's too much but these are the house that pay the best. You wanna see what it looked like before we started?" He pulled out his phone and went through a few pictures. Then he landed on this one picture of an abandoned looking house. I was in shock there was no way this mansion used to look like that. "Yeah it's been a lot of work. Embry headed this one up pretty much by himself. I think he used the wrong color for the walls in the living room but besides that it's all good. After we're done here I have to swing by Quil's site and then I will show you my project … if you want." I nodded because it was clear that's what he really wanted and to be perfectly honest I hadn't felt this content and at peace in a long time. Actually content isn't the correct word, I was happy. I was happy to make Jake happy.

"Jake! There you are Brice told me saw you!" Embry paused at the sight of me. "Damn Leah long time no see! Some people thought you were never coming back." He offered me and side hug.

"Wow, Em … you look old," I commented. He'd age and now he looked older than me. He actually looked better older not so much like a girl.

"Yeah I settled down and got married no need for the super natural anymore. He showed me a picture of his pregnant wife. Her name is Angela, the best thing that ever happened to me. I see you haven't changed a bit. You're stubborn just like Jake … can't leave the wolf thing alone." He put his wallet back in his pocket and went over to Jacob and talked shop.

I decided to wander the house a little bit. I loved the staircase. I've always been a sucker for a double staircase. I always envisioned myself in white walking down one side and my lover walking down the other and we would meet together at the bottom. Intertwining our hands and then committing our lives to each other. I walked up the stairs and allow my fingertips to caress the rail. Once upstairs I walked down the hall and the first room I was compelled to look in was almost fully furnished. The room had a crib with a canopy in the center of the room. A rocking chair placed near the window. The room was done in the most tastefully pale yellow. All the furniture was a walnut oak. I sat down in the rocking chair and looked out the window that gave perfect view to the backyard and its pool. Yeah this house was done perfectly. I could imagine peacefully holding my baby and looking out at the majesty outside. I ping of dread and hopelessness came over me. It had been a while since I felt this way. I'd gotten to the point where not having a child hadn't bothered me but there was something about this room that reminded me that being a mom was something that I secretly wanted.

I began to hum a familiar lullaby and I picked up one of the teddy bears and held it close to my chest. "I think I just came up with an idea for my next article," I whispered to the little bear. I turned to witness Jacob watching me by the door frame. I wasn't shocked I could smell his scent as he got closer.

"I like this room," I murmured quietly as I placed the stuffed animal back on the dresser.

"Yeah it's very nice room," he commented and I headed toward him. "Did you get to see the rest of the house?" He asked.

"No but I'd love a tour!" I said playfully as I skipped toward him. He chuckled. He showed me some of the features that he really liked about the renovation. He showed me the massive space for the bathroom that resembled a sauna if you asked me, it was equipped with fireplace and a huge television.

"This room is my pride and joy. I wasn't familiar with doing work like this but I think it came out well. I personally wouldn't want this in my house but I do like knowing that I can pull something of this magnitude together," Jacob explained.

"It's great Jake, I agree to not wanting it for myself. I'd see no reason to leave a room like this. I'd chill in the Jacuzzi tub watching TV for the rest of my life," I chuckled.

"Now, I wouldn't mind seeing you that way for the rest of my life," he murmured and all of a sudden my face felt flushed.

"That's a very long time Jacob," I said for lack of anything better to say. He inched toward me and pulled my hand from behind my back.

"It's not long enough … eternity wouldn't be long enough to be with you Leah. Each time I look into your eyes I." He was cut off by someone calling for him downstairs. "I guess it's time for us to head back down and then on to the next stop!" He kept my hand in his possession and escorted me downstairs. It was weird that doing something like this hanging out with him at work would be one of the best days I've had in my life for the past 7 years, but it was the little glances he gave me that let me know that even though he was working I was on the forefront of his mind. I was exactly where I wanted to be.
