Jacob POV
Night had begun to fall again. I traveled down a very familiar road with a sleeping Leah in tow. I think my long days were too much for her to handle, however having her with made the minutes to this day fly by. I took a deep relaxing breath this was how it felt to be complete. That's what Leah did for me she completed me and she made me happy. People talk of their other half and I used to think full of shit but Leah being with me brings clarity to that statement. The tires to my truck hit the gravel and Leah began to stir. She rubbed her eye and began to look around.
"Last stop of the day," I declared as I put the car in park. We both hopped out at the same time I went to my back seat and pulled out my tool bag. I really didn't plan to do any work but there were some lights in my bag and I wanted look around at the very least. Leah stood in the front yard with her arms crossed as I approached her I noticed the perplexed look on her face.
"This house is a major first for me. It will be the first house I build from the ground up," I explained and a look of clarity filled her eyes.
"Oh, I was wondering why it looked so … naked, for a lack of a better word," she chuckled a little. I grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the front door. We entered the house, the walls had just been insulated and the floors were just cement. I riffled through my bag to find one of my lamps.
"So Leah, this is what four weeks of work looks like," I stated. "We are standing in the foyer and if you take five more steps you will be in the living room." She smiled and took five more steps. She looked back at me and moved into the next door way.
"Where am I now?" She asked playfully as she wiggled around a little.
"The dining room," I answered and then moved past her intentionally brushing against her as I did so. Just this small action was enough to excite me but I was determined to show her my pride and joy.
"Here's the kitchen and in the center it will have an island with a sink installed within," I explained as I stood where the island would be.
"Just like my house," she noted.
"My plan is to move into this house once it's finished. Much of the design is like your home because I love that house … it seems to hold everything I love in its quarters." Leah looked down at her feet, even though the space she was standing in was dark I could still tell she was grinning. "There are some things that no matter how good I am at building these houses … I can't recreate. Some things I can't build." Leah looked at me with eyes filled with curiosity and emotion.
"Like what?" She and swallowed hard. She inched toward me and I reached out my hand to her.
"Baby, I think you know," I murmured as I used my other hand to caress the side of her face. I rubbed my nose against hers and she took a deep breath.
"Didn't you want to show me the rest of the house?" She asked.
"Yes," I murmured before kisses despite her attempts to refocus me. I kissed her passionately. I'd been dying to do it all day but I didn't think it was the right thing to do in front of everyone with fully knowing where she stood. I wrapped my arms around her waist and she answered each of my kisses with one of her own matching my fervor. I was actually the one to pull away first. She looked momentarily confused. "Now for the rest of the tour."
I showed her the rest of the house and drew the comparisons from her house. I told her most of the plans I had for the house down the landscaping.
"So how long will all of that take? When do you think it will be done?" She asked.
"My projection is about a year based on my income. I'm doing this all out of my pocket and I'm trying not to take out any unnecessary loans. A year isn't a bad time frame and beside we're moving ahead of schedule." Leah nodded but frowned a little at the same time. "What?"
"Nothing," she muttered. "I think your house is going to be awesome Jake." Now it was my turn to frown at her.
"Why are you always hiding things from me Leah? Tell me what you're thinking." She snorted and turned her back on me. She started walking toward the front door and then stopped.
"I was thinking … this is going to be a lovely house it's just a shame that you won't be able to live in it," she muttered. Okay she was leading me somewhere but she was going to have to be clearer than that.
"Why wouldn't I live here?" I asked confused and she turned back to me.
"Because … you can't live in two places at once."
"I can give up my apartment Leah. That place was most definitely meant to be only temporary," I teased. She narrowed her eyes at me because she knew I was being difficult on purpose.
"You will be living with me … and I'm currently in love with my house and you moving in would make it perfect. I think you think so too. So are we finished here? Can we go home now?" I was baffled I guess this was Leah's way of answering all of my questions and telling me where I was meant to be which was with her.
"Yeah, let's get out of here," I said before lifting her into my arms and hitching her over my shoulder. "I've got go grab some clothes and then after that … we'll go home!"
