Leah's Mystery Noise

"So do you hear anything yet?" Leah asked for the second time from her bedroom. I was laying on her couch in the living room. I'd come over to listen for this apparently imaginary sounds in her house. She told me she was convinced that once everything was quiet and she went to bed she would hear them again. So being the loyal friend and alpha that I am I stayed around and waited with her. She was in bed and I could hear her mattress springs as she turned to and fro but I couldn't hear any sounds the house was making.

"No Leah … I think you need to have you ears checked beta girl," I chuckled.

"I haven't been called that in a million years," she said quietly. She moved again and then I heard her footsteps as they padded against the hardwood floors towards me. I looked up and she was wearing tiny grey shorts and a white camisole. She crossed her arms and stared at me. "Well I've heard it three times since you've been here. I know Jacob maybe you need a hearing aid or … maybe if you come in my room you'll hear it too." I groaned and dragged myself off her couch and followed her into her bedroom. I watched as she crawled back into bed she started at me with confusion on her face.

"You're not going to just stand there like that are you?" I shrugged my shoulders I wasn't sure what she expected me to do. "Sit!" She pointed to the foot of her bed. I sat down and we waited for Leah's mystery noise. She plopped back down and closed her eyes. I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket it way past 1AM I wasn't going to be any good tomorrow. I might get Embry to check in on the crew and actually try to give myself the day off. It had been a really long time since I'd had a day to just kick back and chill. I knew I was too tired to even think about driving home.

"Leah?"

"Hmmm," she murmured.

"It's late, can I just crash on your couch? I mean I was going to come here for breakfast I might as well stay and save on gas," I chuckled and for some reason nervousness set in as I waited for her answer. For the life of me I couldn't understand why, it wasn't like I'd asked to fuck her or anything, and I can't lie it was late and I was sitting on her bed sex was most definitely on my mind.

"Yeah, you can stay," she mumbled. "You can have half the bed if you want … the couch is kind of hard." I nodded and kicked my boots off and dragged my shirt over my head. Normally I wouldn't sleep in anything but my boxer briefs. It would be weird to sleep in but so much clothing. I pulled back her covers and sunk into the bed with her. Once I got comfortable in the bed a stillness came over the house all I could hear was Leah rapid heartbeat. It wasn't pounding nearly as fast before. I knew it had to be the effect me being in bed with her. She lay with her back to me but I could tell that her body was tense. I wanted touch her I wanted her resting against me.

"Jake?" I was glad she said something to break the tension I'd begun to feel.

"Yeah," I answered and she turned to me with curious eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me Ness was dating my brother?" She asked and I smirked a little.

"Would that have mattered to you Leah?" I knew where this conversation was headed. She wanted to tackle the elephant in the room and I was way too tired to discuss all this right now.

"Yeah most thing concerning my family matter to me Jake," she huffed out and I scoffed that's not why she wanted to know. If we were going to have this conversation she was going to have to come better than that. Point blank I could be just as evasive as her and I would be until she was genuine.

"I didn't think it was my business to tell. I figured that you talked to your family more than you did. Are you unhappy about them being together?" I asked curious about her response.

"No, I mean, I don't know. Renesmee seems nice a little too happy in my opinion but Seth is that way too so I guess they complement each other. I just … I guess don't want my brother hurt because one day she realizes that she's supposed to be with you," Leah confessed and I closed my eyes to try to hide my annoyance at her statement.

"Ness and I will never happen," I stated firmly because I was tired of talking to Leah about Ness. It seemed like every time we conversed it was about that little hybrid.

"And you're okay with that? Seriously?"

"YES!"

"It just doesn't make sense Jake. Our laws state that …." She was starting ramble about things that she knew good and well that I already knew.

"Leah, drop this and go to sleep!" I ordered and she snorted in my direction.

"Don't tell me what to do in my own house Jacob Black or I'll kick you out of my bed!" She shoved me playfully and had the gall to look shocked when I shoved her back.

"Jacob, I can't believe you hit me I'm a lady," she giggled and went to push me again. In all over our roughhousing somehow I ended up mounted on top of her. Her breathing began to slow and the look in her eyes changed from playful to seductive. This was the sign that I wanted that the passion and longing I'd had for this woman hadn't been one sided. Seven whole years of torture could finally be put in the past. I began to lower my face to hers and then an odd creaking sound and knocking came from her bathroom area.

"That's it that's the sound!" She explained as she shoved me off of her and hopped off the bed and went into the bathroom connected to her bedroom. I followed and the noise presented itself again.

"It sounds like old pipes but I can get my buddy Ryan to come over sometime and make sure you don't have any plumbing issues."

"Okay," she muttered and we stood there for a moment in silence. She turned and went back to her bed and climbed in. I wasn't sure if I was still allowed to stay since we had figured out where the noise came from. I went to grab my shoes.

"Where are you going?"

"I thought you'd want me to leave?" She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"Come back to bed Jake and ditch the jeans they're getting my sheets all dirty," she fussed. Leah watched as I unzipped my jeans and revealed my grey boxer briefs. She drew her bottom lip into her mouth slightly and her pupils seemed to dilate. I crawled back into bed with her and scooted closer to me and rested her head on my shoulder. I moved my arm and wrapped it around her and she didn't seem to mind.

"Thanks Jake for all this I know I've been a major pain."

"Don't worry I'm sure that I'll think of some way you can repay me." I brushed my lips against the top of her head and chuckled.
