Chapter Fifteen
"Court, you have mail. It's on the table, dear," Mom said as I walked into the kitchen, rubbing my tired eyes. I picked up the envelope and ripped it open. It was a letter.
Court,
I love you, babe. I overreacted. I’m sorry. Forgive me? If you do, meet me at the park on Friday at 7. I love you.
Love always, Jay
"Brenden!" I yelled, running to his room after his dad let me in. On the way there, I ran into Trevor—literally. Apparently I had woken him up and he was coming out to tell me off. But instead, he just ended up bashing his head off mine; resulting in me on the floor under him.
"Trevor. Get off," I giggled, pushing him with one hand, the other on my throbbing head. He shifted to put more of his weight on me and grinned down at me, his face only inches from mine.
And he kissed me. A small peck on my top lip—my mouth had dropped open when I saw him leaning down. I pulled back and shoved him off, getting up. I ignored his whispered protests and continued my way to Brenden's room.
I jumped on his bed, straddled him, and kissed his face all over. His eyes flew open and he lit up like a Christmas tree. He kissed me hard on the lips, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close.
"I would love to wake up to this every day," he said as I climbed off of him and lay tucked in his armpit.
"Well I would rather not wake up to shit like this every morning," I said, handing him Jackson's letter. "But I would gladly wake up to you." I smiled as he glanced up at me, tearing his eyes away from the letter.
"That's bullshit. He's kinda freaking me out." And after a while, he added, "You should go."
My head shot up. "Are you serious?" I half-yelled.
"Yeah. You'll walk to the park to meet him but I'll follow you and hide behind a tree or a bush or something. If he tries anything, I'll stop him." I tilted my head in consideration before giving in and nodding my head. He placed a kiss on my forehead, his eyes travelling to his alarm clock.
"Fuck, Lu. It's seven o'clock. On a Saturday." Brenden rolled over onto his stomach and buried his head under his pillow. I climbed over him and headed for the kitchen.
"Hey, Mr. Foxe. You mind if I get some breakfast here?" I asked, grabbing a bowl and my Lucky Charms before he even answered.
"Oh, and Courtney," he said, turning to face me when he made it to the doorway. "My name is Alan." I smiled and nodded, turning back to my breakfast.
Trevor joined me shortly after Alan left. And it was a tad bit awkward to sit there eating breakfast with a guy who just kissed you. Especially when that guy's brother is your boyfriend. And especially when the only noise is the clinking of spoons on the bowls.
"Listen, Trevor." He looked up from his cereal. "I don't know why you kissed me. But I'm not telling Bren about it. And it best not happen again."
"You're hot, Court. It was bound to happen." How could he be so nonchalant about this?
"Trevor, I don't think you understand. I'm dating your brother. And I love him," I said, finished with my cereal.
"I understand that just fine. But you're hot. Did you miss that earlier or something?" I shook my head.
"Just because I'm hot, does not give you reason to kiss me when I'm dating your brother!" I whisper-yelled.
“Calm down, girl,” he said, grinning with amusement. “You don’t tell Brenden, I won’t tell Brenden. And there’s no problem. I’ll just have to try to contain myself more around your sexy body.” He winked at me, put his bowl in the sink, and left me staring at the wall behind where he was sitting.
“Good Lord,” I mumbled to myself before getting up. I mimicked Trevor’s actions, but went to Brenden’s room after leaving the kitchen. “Bren, I’m going back home, okay. I’ll talk to you later. I love you.” I kissed him on the forehead and started to walk out of the room.
“I love you, too, Lu,” he said, causing me to turn around. “Now come here and give me a proper kiss before you run off.” I did as he said. And it was definitely a ‘proper’ kiss. His hands traveled from my face down to my waist, where he held me tightly. Soon after, they travelled up under my shirt, gripping my ribcage.
“Ugh! I did not need to see that!” Trevor groaned, walking into the room. Brenden removed his hands from my shirt and flipped him off. I climbed off his bed, where I had ended up during the kiss, and stood by the foot of his bed.
“Trevor, what are you doing in here?” Brenden asked, getting up out of bed.
“I came in here to tell you Mom wants you to go shopping with her.” Trevor smiled and winked at me. I rolled my eyes.
“Ugh. What for?” Brenden groaned.
“Why clothes, of course, you little princess,” Trevor taunted. Brenden stuck his tongue out at him and pointed to the door. “Be ready in a half hour.”
“Bye, Brenny,” I said. “Call me later, okay?”
“Brenny?” he asked, grinning. I stuck my tongue out at him. “I’ll call you, babe.” He pulled me in for another kiss before I walked out—leaving for real this time.
