Chapter Twenty-Five
“Courtney! Ashtyn!” I rolled over in bed and looked at the time. Eight o’clock. In the morning.
“Yes, mom?” I yelled, not getting up.
“Get up and come downstairs!” I did as she said, finding her and dad on the front landing with a bunch of suitcases. I had forgotten they were leaving today. Ashtyn came down the stairs behind me. “We’re leaving now.”
“When will you be back?” I asked. They were flying out to Australia for yet another vacation. They would be missing my last first day of high school, my last first high school soccer game, and my last first high school formal. School started in three days.
“In about a month or so,” she said. “I’ve given the Foxe’s instructions to check up on you once every week, and if you need anything, they’re right down the road.”
“We’ve left you money in the safe,” Dad said. “But we’d best be leaving if we intend to catch our flight.” He hugged me and Ashtyn, Mom following his lead. “I’ll miss you, girls. Make sure you behave.” I nodded and grabbed Ashtyn’s hand.
“Bye, guys!” we simultaneously said. They waved from the car and drove off.
“So when’s the party?” Ashtyn asked.
“I don’t party,” I laughed. “But we can have Shane and the boys over. How about Sunday?”
“Sleepover?” I nodded. She smiled and clapped giddily. “I want to go shopping.”
“We can go out to lunch with Bren and Trev and then shop. Sound good?” She nodded, making her way to the kitchen for some breakfast.
“Turn down the music!” I yelled at Trevor, who was driving. He had turned the radio up almost all the way and it was giving me an excruciating headache. He winked at me and shook his head. Luckily, Ash turned it down. Trevor glared at her and she giggled, making him sober up.
“Baby,” Brenden said, putting a hand on my thigh. I turned to look at him. “I need you,” he whined in my ear, nibbling it a little. I felt my face get hot. I turned to kiss him. He moaned, and I pulled away.
“Knock it off back there, guys,” Trevor said. “I’m sitting right here.” I laughed and winked at him, causing him to smirk at me.
“Sorry, Trev,” I said. “I just can’t help it. You’ve got one sexy brother.” Brenden stuck his tongue out at me before nibbling on my ear. I pushed him away. “Later,” I whispered, winking. Trevor groaned from the front seat and turned the music back up.
“Can we go home now?” Trevor whined for the five hundredth time. We had only been shopping for an hour. Ashtyn shook her head and took his hand, dragging him to another store while Brenden and I went off in the other direction.
“Babe, it’s been an hour,” he whined. “I’m sick of walking.” I have him the puppy dog look and he scowled, turning away. “No. None of that.” I grinned and pulled him along.
“Let’s get us a present for later,” I said, winking at him and pulling him along. We stopped outside a lingerie store and he smirked at me before dragging me inside. As we were walking out, we met Ashtyn and Trevor walking in. “Hey guys,” I said, suggestively.
“What are you guys up to?” Brenden asked. Ash blushed beet red and Trevor glared at him. Ash pulled him inside before the boys could make a scene, and I dragged Brenden away. “So apparently they’re going to have sex, too.”
“Apparently so,” I agreed. “Well, Trev can take her to your place and we can have my house to ourselves.” He pulled me in close to his body as we walked along and kissed my forehead.
