🌱TYLER'S PØV 📃

It felt really great, riding a bike, but I don't know if I will ever get the hang of it. People say we learn best when we're younger... When we don't know the consequences. When we don't know pain.

But I can't turn back time.

Josh was a little tense just now though, I didn't know an apology could sound so... How do you describe it? Weighted?

His house looked bigger than mine, and had a nice garden in front.

"Mom I'm home, I brought a friend..."

I heard rapid footsteps coming from the kitchen, and a lady with brown hair that fell to her shoulders appeared.

"Oh Josh he's so cute!!!"

"Hi Mrs Dun, I'm Tyler"

"You can call me Momma Dun, sweetheart"

Oh what a nice lady.

"He's the guy I was talking about, for the competition." Josh continued.

Whoa, he talks about me?

"I'll leave you boys to it then!" and she left for the kitchen again.

I followed him up the stairs to his room. It was pretty big, bigger than mine at least, his bed was in the middle, with his desk at one end and his drums at the other.

This drumset looked older than the one in school, the cymbals were dull and the drums were slightly rusty at the rims, but it captivated me nonetheless. Older things hold far more memories than new ones.

"So, any ideas for what song to choose?" I asked Josh, taking out my uke from my bag. Yeah I bring it to school whenever I feel like it.

He shrugged, "I was thinking you'd have a better idea."

"Well uhh... We could choose something popular, something people would want to hear, or something we'd like to play."

"Something we'd like to play? In that case, I wanna play something you wrote."

I took a (long) while to figure out what to say. "I have a few old songs I wrote... but I'm really not comfortable with sharing them..."

"Not even with me?"

"Maybe I will." I said immediately, it wasn't the kind of question that you could take your time to ponder about before answering.

He was the closest friend I had in ages... There was Ray of course, but I've known him for two years. Josh on the other hand, I've known him for like...two days...? Wait, what?

"Maybe, one day I will," I continued.

"One day, then." he sighed, "I think something original would work best though, something different from what everyone else would do."

"And also something that we can both relate to," I added.

"Tell me more about yourself then," he was grinning again.

"Umm... What do you want to know..?"

He took his time to think of a good question. "Tell me something that you've never told anyone else before."

There were so many things I could list, but I was always careful with what I chose to share. Many times, I've told my "friends" too much, and the things I said were eventually held against me. But I think I could trust Josh...he gave me the good vibes, like cereal in milk.

"Well... I write. A lot. Songs, poems, stories, lists, memories. Because I have too much things on my mind all the time, and it bothers me so bad, my brain just throws up onto the page."

I felt better after saying all that rubbish. He nodded and seemed to like processing my rubbish.

"I'd still like to see that brain-puke of yours though."

I might have snorted.

"Your turn, Josh. Same question."
