"Have you met the new drummer in school?
"Who?"
"Well, he will be joining you, Tyler."
"Oh."
Two 15 year old boys join the school's talent competition. From strangers to best friends, it wasn't exactly that easy.
Was it the speakers t...
I had just realised why Tyler cared about him so much. No one deserves to be treated like that, and Ty was unquestionably the kind of person who would be bothered.
Gerard didn't notice the three of us when he walked out of his class, too busy staring at his shoes. Ray almost reached out to grab his shoulder, but didn't, so Tyler did. He turned around, slightly stunned.
"You guys saw everything?"
"We even called back Mr Wentz to help you," Tyler told him. "Didn't expect that you'd retaliate..."
"Didn't expect myself to either," he said.
"Does he do that often?" Ray asked, but was met with disappointment at the lack of response. I gave him a pat on the back.
"It's good you stopped him, Gee. You haven't lost your sass." Ty tried to continue. I'm glad he's still alright around Tyler, but I felt bad for Ray.
"Brian ain't gonna stop," he said bitterly. "But Ty...if that ever happened to you, would you actually stop the person?"
He took some time to ponder about it and sighed. "Honestly, no... and I wish I had your guts."
"You wouldn't?" I asked, surprised.
"No, I didn't." He turned to correct me, leaving me slightly confused. Ray and Gerard seemed to understand though, which pissed me off a little. Still can't call him my bestfriend yet, can I? *Sigh* Tyler is a mystery.
"I'll get going now..."
"No Gee listen," Ray interrupted him. "I'm sorry, okay? I don't know how to put it across to you because you wouldn't believe me anyway but I just want you to know, I would never hurt Mikey."
"I know," Gerard replied. "...and I'm sorry too."
Though I had little idea of what was going on, I could actually feel the tension in the air. Was this considered an apology? I looked at Tyler and he gave me a subtle thumbs up.
"Come have lunch with us, Gee. Mikey and Frank are waiting."
Gerard almost smiled. "Kay, Fro Fro."

Ray's right hand landed in his cupcake, thanks to his huge hand gestures.

"How about the Killer Cupcakes."
"No, but still better than Mikey Way and the Unicorns."
The four of them were having a hard time choosing a band name, mostly because Frank wasn't being serious and Gerard wanted something reaaally deep. Tyler and I just listened in on their discussion.
"Green 24 Hours?"
"That's so unoriginal."
"I'm glad we got the gang together," I whispered to Tyler.
"Same," he smiled as he watched me put the first cookie into my mouth. He slid the blue lunchbox towards Gerard and offered him one, for he had no lunch money either. These things taste incredible. I do feel bad for accepting them, especially since Ray said that Ty rarely gives them out. Not sure why, but I know I'll repay him. Soon.
"The Black Parade?"
"Getting warmer."
"The New London Fire?"
"Well, 9/11 was terrifying too."
"Are we listing tragedies now?"
"More like sins!" Mr Urie randomly called out after overhearing that line. Brendon winked at me.
"My Watercooler Romance?" Frank suggested. Gerard was amused by that one for some reason.
"My Pathetic Romance?"
"My X-Rated Romance?"
"Um... My Chemical Romance?" Mikey suddenly said. We had a moment of silence.
Frank was like "F*ck, that's good."
"Damn, I didn't think of that." Gee said.
No one had any objections for once, and even Tyler nodded in approval. "Sounds legit." I agreed with him.
"Saw something like that on a book cover," Mikey said.
Gerard raised his can of coffee. "Long live My Chemical Romance."
"Three cheers to that."
"May nothing but death do us part."
The six of us sort of toasted a bit too hard and Mikey spilled half of his milk on himself.
"I guess we can finally call him Milky Way" Tyler said to himself, a little too loud.
We cringed.
"Milk is good for you!" Mr Ross commented, happening to walk by just like Brendon did. Ray raised an eyebrow.
"Oh yeah, Tyler, Josh, what did you name your band?" Frank asked.
We turned to look at each other, wide eyed. It's been weeks of jamming together and we've pretty much finished writing our next song, but somehow we hadn't actually thought about it yet?
Just realised, dumbass?
Whatever.
"I assumed you'd keep your old band name," Ray told Tyler.
"What band name..?"
"The airplanes one, from back in our old school?"
Tyler tilted his head to one side. "Twenty One Pilots?"
I accidentally oohed. He mentioned this before in one of our many late night conversations where we'd try to help each other fall asleep. He makes the dark seem less scary, and makes my dreams a little better.
Ty smiled. "You like it, Josh?"
"Yeah," I grinned.
"It Googles well."
"And it's deep."
Yeah I guess it Googles well, but that will only matter if we made it big someday. I'd love to be in a famous and successful band, especially with Tyler, but what are the chances? Mom would go on and on about how it isn't a stable job with a good salary (and she'll make me do the chores anyway) and then there's Dad... Uh... I won't even think about it.
"Then we're Twenty One Pilots." He held up a hand and I high fived it. Tyler laughed and it was actually cute.
Suddenly, I felt someone approach me from behind, throwing arms over my shoulders a bit too hard.
"Joshy!"

I really don't like writing the next few chapters dammit, wish I could fast forward and get to the nicer parts (which are after chapter 16)
