🌞 RAY'S PØV 🌂
"He hasn't even looked at me for ages."
"That doesn't mean he's still angry at you, for whatever you did..." Tyler stated. "Gee isn't that kind of person, we both know that. There could be other reasons."
I had to agree, but still, I couldn't make sense of it. What was going on in his head?! Am I supposed to go tell him for the millionth time that it had nothing to do with me and beg him to believe every word I say?
"You aren't gonna tell me what happened, are you?"
I didn't answer.
"...Ray, I can help."
I didn't feel like bringing up something that was no longer a huge issue, but Tyler had a point. He was good at these things, he could help.
Near the end of last term, I was accused of starting the rumor that Mr Wentz had a "thing" for Gee's little brother, Mikey. It had almost got Mikey into some trouble, but some kids started picking on him and Gee became really worked up because of it. He didn't believe me when I said I had no clue how it even happened, rambling about how it was none of my business who Mikey was close to and that I was secretly jealous (what??) and I didn't really get it.
All I knew was that it wasn't me, and that Mikey trusted me, but Gee didn't.
The rumors had already died down ages ago, I bet no one would really remember it. Mikey was fine too, he came to tell me just before the term ended that I had nothing to worry about.
Ooh, the awkward moment when you realise you talk to your best friend's brother more than your best friend.
After telling someone all of that crap, I literally felt better, like all the pain was taken away from me. Almost.
"So, genius, now that you know the story, give me a reason to believe that he doesn't hate me."
"Well.... Maybe Gee needed alone time, Mikey had told us about their Granny. Maybe he realised he was wrong but doesn't wanna admit it, we both know his self-esteem. Or maybe he thinks you're still pissed at him...?"
Ty had just reminded me. I hope Gee was coping well without his grandma, he was so close to her. But goodness, I hope he doesn't go back to his sharpener blade again.
"Maybe you're right, dude."
If only all this hadn't happened. Gee and I would be practicing for the competition, together with Mikey. (Tyler said he preferred going solo, I could understand)
We had planned this out long ago, and oh how wrong we were to think nothing could go wrong.
But, as Tyler always says, things probably happen for a reason. I wouldn't have met Frank and Bob if I hadn't got ditched. Lol. Then again, Frank has been slightly annoying recently, he keeps asking about Gee.
"The question is, what are you gonna do now?" Ty asked, finishing up his ham and cheese sandwich.
"Um, wait?" I shrugged, hoping he'd find an answer on my behalf.
He rolled his eyes. "Ray, the next time we meet Gee we better sort it out. I really want everything to be okay... Like how it was before. Promise?"
It wasn't easy to convince myself that he didn't hate me. If a close friend of yours who is usually chill suddenly explodes one day and ignores you for the next two months, you'd feel that way too.
But well, always trust a Tyler.
"I promise."
