Tyjo: Stump is watching you

He finally replied and I looked up to see our teacher turn away, too nice to tell me off.

Not gonna get an answer out of him soon, am I?

My best friend is keeping something from me, something that his other friends seem to know, and something to do with Debby. I didn't like that feeling.

You're jealous.

Am not.

"Joshua, can you tell us what rule we should use to solve this question?" Mr Stump called me out. I stared at the diagram on the whiteboard, like, what the heck is that bunch of lines?!

"Josh." I heard the math genius whisper. "Cosine rule, Josh."

"Um, Cosine rule....?"

Our teacher nodded. "Ten points to Hufflepuff."

Half the class started to laugh.

I managed to survive the rest of the lesson without throwing paper at Tyler. Somehow. Ray had left first in a hurry, while I waited for Ty to pack his math stuff which weighed about 73925641 tons.

"I can't come over today Josh, I'll take the bus home myself."

"I could drop you off at your place?"

He shook his head. "I'm going to find Gee... He's meeting Mr Wentz for what happened just now."

"I'll come along too?"

"Um, nah... I'll go myself."

Is he purposely avoiding me now?? I just want to ask him about Debby.

"Dudeee what's wrong?"

"Nothing. I just need to go with Gee, we sort of accidentally got him into this."

"You're not telling me something." I stated, following him out the classroom door.

"So what if I am?"

🍪 DEBBY'S PØV 🍪

"I'm not hungry, Hal."

"But you had, like, three cookies for lunch? You're kidding."

"Wasn't hungry in the first place," I said. "But that guy owes me anyway."

"Tyler? He's your friend?" Halsey asked and I gave a sarcastic laugh.

"Totally. More like a mortal enemy."

"Then bet there's lots of poison in it." Melanie butted in while jumping onto her girlfriend. I swear, I'd ship Halsanie if Halsey doesn't break her back first.

"Tyler doesn't have the guts," I muttered to myself. He wouldn't try to stop me. What's he gonna do? Whack me with his ukulele? He wouldn't even hurt a fly.

I rolled my eyes at the thought. It felt weird how we used to be bestfriends, till he started hanging out with Ray years ago, completely ditching me. I had thought he was different, but nope, turns out everyone is mean, and they will always be. He even pretends to not notice me sometimes, like wtf? It's like he forgot how close we used to be. It's like I never mattered to him.

So I figured. If no one's gonna be nice, why should I?

"Debby look, it's your boyfriend!"

Melanie immediately brought my attention to the scene in front of me. Joshy was running down the first floor corridor in my direction, dem muscles hot af. I almost called out to him, but the words got caught in my throat when I realised he wasn't looking for me.

"Come on Tyler!" he laughed and I strutted up to them.

Why do I always lose to that freakish wimp?!

🌟 TYLER'S PØV 🌟

"Josh, give it back..."

"Come on Tyler!" he laughed, holding my phone loosely between two fingers. "Tell me!"

How is Josh older than me? Or rather, how can such a cute boy be so annoyingly whiny at the same time???

"Listen, some things are better left in the dark..."

He ignored me and knelt beside the drain at the side of the corridor, sliding my phone through the metal grills.

"Don't go there, Josh

"Don't go there, Josh..."

If only the truth wouldn't affect him. If only I could take this threat as just another joke... If that was possible, I'd already have joined him in being dramatic. It's what we do best.

"I'm dropping it, Ty. Watch me."

"Go ahead. I'm serious... I'm not telling you anything," I crossed my arms and stood there watching him for about two seconds. But in the next moment, I felt a sharp pain in my back that sent me falling forward, almost landing on the boy in front of me.

Wincing at the pain in my arms from breaking my fall, I turned to see who the heck had pushed me...

Deborah Ann Ryan.

...why was I not surprised?

"Ty, you okay..?" My best friend asked, completely disregarding his girlfriend. I looked up at him, then down at my wrist that he had grabbed in attempt to stop me from tumbling over. Then I noticed some metallic thing at the bottom of the drain...

Oh crap... Mom is so gonna kill me.

"A bit too far, Josh..." I pushed his hand away.

My eyes darted between the two of them. My best friend. My worst nightmare. How the heck are they together?!

I thought Josh would be different. I thought I could trust him enough that he would never turn out like Debby. But now...It's like déjà vu, things I wish I could forget the most. It sucks to have a good memory.

Of all the people in the entire world, WHY?

My eyes started to sting. Really bad. I turned away, shaking my head again to help hold back my tears. Stupid Josh... I looked at his hand again and swatted it off me, holding back my urge to curse.

"Screw you... Both of you." I finally said.

I glared at both of them. I didn't give a single damn anymore. I put up my hoodie and ran off to the only place that could possibly give me any comfort. I didn't look back.

What's the point of treating everyone so nice when all they're gonna do is screw up your life? Cookies are such a joke.

All I wanted...was someone I could trust... Is that really too much to ask for?

It's not, Tyler.
