🏀 TYLER'S PØV 💎
Basketball was something I was slightly better at, and Ray gets disappointed every time we were in opposing teams. "If you're on the other team, mine is probably gonna get wrecked" he says. That's blasphemy.
I usually took more possession of the ball, but simply didn't feel like it this round. Gym class was the last lesson of the day (and the week) and I just wanted it to be over so I could get to the midland.
The best part of every single day for the past week was meeting Josh after school to work on writing Car Radio. Two weeks wasn't a lot of time to finish an original song, and I bet the judges knew that too. They were obviously testing us.
But that's okay, I get to see Josh.
I've waited all this week for today in particular as he was coming over to my house this time. It was easier to move a drumset than an entire piano.
It might have been the longest gym lesson I've ever had. The moment Mr Hurley dismissed us, I briefly waved goodbye to Ray and ran to my favourite corner of the school... But to my surprise (for once), it was deserted.
I searched my pocket for my phone.
One missed call, three messages.Missed call from Joshy 👻
Joshy👻: cant come today, im sorry
Joshy👻: stuck at home
Joshy👻: sort of sprained my back lol, came back from the hospital this morning
Tyjo: Whoa what? I'm coming over.
I wasn't sure what bus to take, but I hopped onto my usual one. He doesn't live too far from me, I couldn't get too lost. Getting lost was one of my greater fears, despite my good memory which made it less possible.
...Then again, it's due to my good memory that I'm still afraid of getting lost after all these years. I remember things I wished I didn't.
Alighting one stop early was a good choice. I stopped by my favourite restaurant for takeaway before sprinting to the end of the road. The front door was left unlocked. Knocking anyway, I assumed the lack of response granted me permission to enter.
"Josh?" I called out before pushing open his door.
"Oh wow you really came haha"
He was on his bed, propped up by a ton of pillows. Kay, more like four, but that's a lot. I drew a chair and sat beside him.
"Bet you haven't had lunch?"
"Nope"
I took out two tacos from my bag and passed him one.
"HOLY. Taco Bell???"
"Mhm."
"How much is..."
"My treat." I cut him off and he looked at me in disbelief, but he got the message in the end. I wasn't gonna let him pay.
"You don't eat school food, do you?"
Josh stopped stuffing the taco in his mouth for a moment to look at me.
"...and you don't bring lunch from home either, do you?"
"How did you...?"
I shrugged. "Gut feels. Just don't starve yourself, please... You look really hungry."
"And you look really hot."
"Uhh... Wha...?" I felt heat rise in my cheeks and looked away awkwardly.
"Like seriously, you're sweating" he said, reaching for the remote to adjust the air conditioning.
"Oh." Not sure if I was slightly embarrassed or disappointed.
He smirked. "and yeah, you're pretty hot too."
