Taiyo
Mom lead us away from the guild hall, it was still midday and there was plenty of time 'til dinner and for dad to come back home. He promised me the other day that he would teach me and Nashi how to find our magics and how to start our lessons. I admit that I was very excited, but honestly all I wanted to do now was go home and read some of my favorite nursery stories. Humpty Dumpty sounds like a good one to read right now. Mom was still holding Nashi in her arms as Nashi pointed and cooed at everything behind us adoringly.
"Mom, what are we having for dinner?" I asked.
"Steak and broccoli," Mom answered, readjusting her grip on Nashi. I grumbled and rolled my eyes, I hated broccoli with a burning passion, but for some reason Nashi considered it her favorite vegetable (A/N: How dare you hate broccoli, Taiyo-chan T^T).
"Mom, do you think I'll be a magician when I grow up?"
"A mage?" She said, I nodded. "It depends, Taiyo. Not everyone could use magic, even in everyday cases." I nodded. "But maybe I could get Virgo to see if you could use magic." Nashi piped right up with a mischievous gleam in her eyes, I felt excited but I found myself asking another question instead of cheering.
"How?" I didn't need mind reading magic to know that my mom was slightly disappointed that I wasn't as... lively as my little sister.
"She uses a magic key to read people," Mom said plainly, I nodded and held her free hand tightly.
I narrowed my eyes and looked up at the sky. There's still so much I wanted to learn about the world, I was always told by mom that I over think too much and that I never really was one of playing games. That part was true but for good reason, I just wanted to learn. Read books, scrolls on history, maybe even learn a few hobbies like playing the piano like dad or writing like mom. Oh maybe I could even-
"Taiyo! Stop thinking!" My sister scolded me from mom's arms.
"Nani?" I asked.
"And don't say another weird word like that, onii-chan!"
"Okay. What?"
"No thinking, Taiyo-nii! When you think it takes me forwever to snap you back to today!" She scolded and shook her finger at me. "BAD! BAD ONII-CHAN!"
"Hmph!" Mother smiled and patted Nashi's head, we were getting close to the apartment complex now. She sighed and lowered her voice to a quiet whisper, as if speaking to herself, "I wonder if Natsu was ever like these two with his brother. Whoever this brother is anyways..." Nashi looked up at her and seemed to forget about it instantly, shrugging and looking back out to the skies to point at the birds, but it looked to me like I found a new mystery to solve.
"Dad has a brother?" I asked.
"Yeah, an older one too. Your daddy says he's still alive, but I don't see how," Mom mused.
"Why would he be dead?"
"Well, let's just say he lived for a very long time," And there she goes again with the secrets.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Oh, we're here!" Mom said, changing the subject almost as swiftly as she could put Nashi down.
Nashi held mom's other hand as she walked us inside the apartment. Mom said the neighbors that lived besides us- both sides- moved out, so we took the chance to expand the entire apartment. It costs a lot more jewel than before so mom and dad both had to work to keep it up. Levy or Lisanna were usually the ones to watch over us while mom and dad were out. We climbed the flight of stairs and went up to our apartment, I never bothered memorizing the number. The moment we stepped foot inside, Nashi was immediately there to ask mom about calling Virgo to see if we could be mages. I rolled my eyes and began walking to my room, before I even took two steps Nashi was there to hold me back and lock me in place as mom held out her golden key.
