Fairy Tail: Black Blood [Book 2/2]

Fairy Tail +534: REWRITTEN

[A/N]: For my own piece of mind after the actual 536. Fairy Tail has been absolute shit for me and I want to make a quick One-Shot of my dream story after 534, the last DECENT chapter within the while. So, I know some of you may not like what I've thinking for this story, but consider this a sadist's own slice of paradise... : )

Zeref stepped away from his brother's body, his hand dripping with the crimson liquid that had once belonged to his brother. Such a shame, Zeref thought. I wasted so much time on my creation, and yet he is nowhere near my expectations. He chuckled lightly and glanced Mavis's way, his empty white eyes meeting her aquamarine ones. She broke eye contact first and looked at Natsu's body with fear in her eyes.

"You... how could you do this? To your own brother?" Her voice cracked and he waved off her weak accusation with a hand.

"He is not my brother. Just a byproduct of a naïve child's fantasy. And speaking of brothers," Zeref said, he then turned to the guild hall door and raised his hand. Summoning the magic from the roots of the guild and his palm itself, he raised the portal. "It is time for me to find my own."

"Zeref! You don't have to do this, please!" Mavis gasped, trying to move but her weakened body protested loudly against that thought. She was still rendered immobile as Zeref began his slow, precise walk towards the door. He could almost see it now, his beloved brother's smiling face, his parents proud grins as their eldest son brought home yet another academic award, how the whole family would go on picnics and watch dragons fly. He was so close to it, and it was literally within arms length. I will go back to my life before this curse. I will save my family, and I will finally be mortal again.

Lucy, Gray, and Happy were sitting on the bench together, supporting Lucy's tired form after she rewrote a segment of Natsu's story. Lucy's entire right arm was covered in faint red tattoos and her arms were burning to touch. Whatever Natsu's book had done to her, it definitely wasn't on a positive note, and Gray was not only fearing for Lucy's life, but Natsu's as well. He was so relieved at the possibility of saving his best from from a terrible fate that he didn't even consider what would actually happen to him if they rewrote the book. They were essentially rewriting Natsu. Gray could do nothing but hope that Natsu wouldn't change that much.

"Lushee!" Happy whined and Lucy groggily stroked the fur on his head. "Lushee, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Happy. But I have to finish rewriting the demon part of the book- ah!" She said, forcing herself to stand up, but her condition caught up to her quickly and Gray had to catch her as she began falling again.

"No, Lucy, you won't," Gray said firmly and she shot a determined glare at him.

"Why not?"

"Think this through for a moment, don't you think you'll be hurting yourself more if you try rewriting his book again?"

"What happens to me doesn't matter! What does is saving Natsu-"

"But would NATSU want you to do this?"

"Uhh, guys?" Happy said, his tone wavering and fearful. Lucy and Gray looked over at the panicked blue cat, but their attention was soon drawn to the previously dormant book on the ground. When Lucy had collapsed, Gray had forcefully closed the book and sealed it shut with devil's ice to keep the overflowing words in, but now that spell was burning off (literally), and the book was glowing an unholy bright red as the last of the ice began dissolving.

"What the hell is this?!" Gray shouted just as Lucy cried, "Natsu!"

The last of the devil's ice frayed off in a cloud of steam and the book flung open, the pages flying wildly with words seeping out of each page and into the air. The pages stopped moving at a particular chapter and a burst of orange light flew up from the opened pages and into the sky like a beacon, the black words flying around it in quick flurries.
