I smile widely as I leave my final ultrasound appointment before the babies are due, which is in a month. Remington wasn't able to make it, due to the fact that he's on his High School National Tour right now, but he should be back before the babies come.
I slide into my '67, slipping in my Andy Black CD. I replaced my cassette stereo with a CD one when I first got my car, and Remington likes to give me crap about it because it "ruins the value" of it.
Also, yeah, Andy released his solo album, "The Shadow Side," and I honestly fell in love with it within the first five seconds of listening to the record. With that being said, I drive to work pretty much dancing along to the album, parking in the mall parking lot.
As I walk into Hot Topic, I'm greeted by my coworkers. Today, Micki and Dakota are working with me, since Elijah and Sam had to get to school.
Micki, Dakota, and I were all early graduates, us being juniors when we finished high school. I was Valedictorian, the girls also in the top 3% out of the entire school. Yeah, we're kind of nerds.
"So, how are the Blemingtons today?" Dakota asks, and I roll my eyes at her, still smiling.
"They're good. So how busy has it been?"
"Jam packed," Micki answers, a small smile on her face. "Apparently this band is coming to play here in LA today, they're kind of just now getting super noticed. Their music is pretty cool and we just finished putting up their new merch." I nod, and decide to help some customers while there's still room to walk. Usually in about an hour, this place is going to be flooded with so many people, you won't be able to take a step. I find a black Palaye Royale zip up hoodie, and 'awe.' I quickly grab a medium and take it to the front, buying it with my employee discount. Remi is gonna laugh when he sees me wearing it.
I quickly tie it around my waist, and am about to start helping the check out line when--
"Yo, blade! I just got a text from the boss! You, Dakota, and I gotta go to over to John C. High and help out with the tent." I groan. Going back to my high school. I'd like to pass. But, sadly this is my job, and if I have to go help out at the tent over at the school, I will. Apparently there's some event going on today over there, and Hot Topic has a tent full of not only their merch, but band merch as well, so of course people will be flooding that place.
"If I'm gonna be outside in the yucky weather, at least I'm gonna looks like a supermodel beetle juice doing it. I'm going to change." The girls give me a thumbs up, continuing to work the check out lines as I head into the dressing room. I slide into my black and white striped high waisted shorts, beetle juice style, and then slide off my oversized, off the shoulder shirt, leaving me I my tank top. I quickly slide my oversized 'That's the spirit' BMTH jersey style crop top over my head, and smile. I love my stomach, especially knowing that I have my wonderful babies inside me, but it's really creepy how everyone wants to pet my stomach. I'm not a hairy dog, keep your hands to yourself. That being said, I'm sure you can guess that right now, you wouldn't know I was pregnant unless you already knew me.
That was one of the doctor's concern today. That I wasn't big enough to be eight months pregnant with twins. But all of their tests showed that the babies are okay. Besides, I've been eating three meals a day, a snack in between; I think I'm good.
Throwing my long black wavy hair into a high messy ponytail, a few strands framing my face, before I slide back into my black knock off vans with white flowers on them. Before I stuff my clothes back into my Vans Off The Wall 50 Years checkered print draw string bag I'd gotten at Warped, I tie the Palaye jacket around my waist. skipping back over to the girls, I check to see if we need to go.
"Ready?" I ask, and they nod, quickly letting the other Employees take their spots. I lead them to my baby, smiling as Micki calls shotgun. We blast MCR all the way to the school, Dakota cry singing while Micki doesn't even bother to try to hide her tears. What? We miss MCR.
Parking in my old spot, I heave myself out of my car, Dakota and Micki scrambling to help me. Soon we've made our way into the gates. Luckily we make it to the tent before the gates open though, because two minutes after we're safely tucked inside our tent, millions--and yes, I mean millions-- of teenagers are full on sprinting inside the venue area, and I suddenly feel really really glad that I don't do touring for a living.
Surprisingly (not) our tent is quickly becoming the busiest, forcing us three girls and the two other employees, who happen to be----
Uh, hold up.
"Sam? Elijah? Why aren't you in class?" I ask, both hands on my hips white Micki and Dakota struggle with the line. Elijah smirks.
"Got out early to help out. School was completely okay with it." I narrow my eyes at him. He probably skipped. But I don't think too much on it, considering the sea of teenagers in front of me. What can I say? Teenagers scare the living shit out of me. I know, I know, too soon for the MCR reference. Three years later, and I'm still "not okay "(I promise.) Jesus, one car ride with Micki and Dakota literally ruined me.
I don't know, something about the fresh air and all of these peoples' excited faces makes me feel something inside. It may be the babies kicking, but I'm pretty sure that it's adrenaline. Well, adrenaline and happiness. Anyways, hours fly by like minutes, minutes faster than seconds, and before I know it, the sun has already set. We're given an hour off as more people from work come to give us a break, and Micki, Dakota, and I all decide to go check out some bands.
We hear this band start to cover Teenagers, and automatically rush over. To my utter surprise, my boyfriend is singing on stage, Sebastian and Emerson jamming as well. My jaw drops. I'm such an idiot. This is a High School tour. As in High School Nation? Ugh.
Remington spots me, and suddenly jumps into the crowd. Making his way over to me, and the girls and I are located in the middle of the crowd. When it's time for Sebastian's guitar solo, he leans down and yells in my ear, "what're you doing here?"
I yell back to him, "I'm working at the Hot Topic tent! I've been there pretty much all day!" A look of worry forms on his face, and he leans back in.
"Go home! You're working yourself too hard! You have four jobs, you've got school coming up, and you're pregnant!who're you trying to impress?"  It's pretty obvious he's working himself up, and for some reason, I get angry. My whole life I've had to work for what I have, and now he's trying to tell me I'm trying to impress people?
"Yeah, well you can take the credit for that last reason." Dragging the girls back to the tent, I tell my boss, who showed up as we were taking our break, that I'm not feeling well. He lets me leave early, so I decide to just head home.
