Chapter Eleven

Ghost

Sienna's POV -

It had been three weeks since that stupid confrontation with Liam where I told him to leave me alone. At the time, I didn't think he'd actually listen to me. I had told him plenty of times beforehand to leave me alone but this time, he chose to listen. But that's not what confused me. What had me completely and utterly confused was the fact that I kind of... missed him.

I had only known the guy for a little over a month, not a long time if you ask me. Maybe it was the fact that I saw him every single day of that month and after he had asked me to be his friend I had every intention to be just that... but after that day at the movies, I couldn't bring myself to remain his friend. To see him almost every day in and outside of class and to talk to him.

Sometimes, in class, I couldn't help but to just look at him. To see if I was just some stupid project of his or something because it was so freaking confusing as to how easily he just let me go. Not that he ever actually had me, but you know what I mean. He seemed genuinely desperate for my friendship and for him to just give up on it so quickly... it had me rattled.

But at the same time, I spent so much more time with my girls. Well, more like Ally because Chelsea had become shady. Maybe it was college life or stress but she never had a full-fledged conversation with me like she used to. I didn't see Jacob all that often either, but it never really bothered me since I knew he wasn't particularly angry at me. I hadn't actually realised what Liam was doing with my time with my friends.

Maybe it helped that Ally had switched to morning classes with me, being in every class besides the ones I was with Liam in. Or maybe it was because she was taking her studies much more seriously and dedicated a lot of her time indoors with me rather than out.

"Do you want to go out today?" I asked Ally, breaking our silence of a record of five minutes while we studied together.

Exams were approaching as the middle of November came closer and closer.

She grinned at me and raised her brows.

"You're suggesting we go out? I thought you'd be an indoors freak forever." She joked.

I rolled my eyes and nudged her playfully.

"Shut up. We deserve to do something, considering we basically know our text books off by heart." It was true, I hadn't realised how good a study buddy was for me.

If I didn't get over 90, I would be shocked as hell.

"What did you have in mind?" She asked.

"I don't know. Maybe go shopping? I really feel like it and that's kind of unusual so let's not waste this rare precious feeling." I suggested.

She grinned like the Cheshire cat and I laughed at Ally's expression.

"What's that look for?" I asked nervously.

"I actually have a date tonight and I don't have anything to wear, so maybe shopping isn't such a bad idea."

I raised my brows and smiled at her knowingly.

Ally doesn't date. Ever. Not that she was a bad girl on flings on the time; it's that she has no experience in the romance department. Her innocence would definitely be an appealing trait to heaps of people.

"Stop looking at me like that." She tried to thin her lips but she was so darn happy that she couldn't help but smile.

It warmed my heart to know that my life-long best friend was this happy. But then, if this guy ever made her upset I would literally be afraid that I might kill him.

"Like what?" I asked innocently.

She narrowed her eyes at me and we both sat down from our lying down positions.

"Like you're happy for me."

"I am happy for you!" I grinned.

"Stop smiling like a spastic." She continued to fight her smile.

"C'mon, let's go shopping. My dad just put two hundred dollars on my MasterCard and I need a few outfits."

"What kind of things are you looking for?"

"Dresses." I answered and she looked at me questioningly. "Nothing formal, I just feel like a few casual dresses I can wear to classes and out."

She nodded and we simultaneously shut our textbooks. We were both still in our pyjamas but it was only eleven, so it wasn't really too bad.

Ally went to the bathroom and took a shower while I took out clothes for the both of us. I laid out khaki shorts, white shirt and underwear for me and took out skinny jeans and a t-shirt for Ally with her underwear. She finished her shower quickly and she came out with one towel wrapped around her hair while another was around her body.

I went in after her and was out in record time and I got dressed and grabbed my handbag, making sure that my MasterCard was inside.

"Whose car are we taking?" I asked as we locked door to our dorm room.

Chelsea was God knows where and she had a key so she could let herself in anyway.

"Whoever's car is closer." She answered with a sly smirk.

Ally hated exercise yet she was perfectly skinny. And let me tell you, she did pig out all the time. I guess she just had one of those bodies. I wasn't completely out of luck though, I had my mother's genes of a fast metabolism but I exercised regularly anyway.

We walked passed Chelsea's car and we surprised to see her emerging from the driver's seat.

"Hey," Ally smiled, greeting her.

Chelsea returned Ally's smile and I immediately wondered why she wasn't looking at me.

"Hey Chelse." I smiled, trying to hide my frown.

"Hi." Her eyes barely connected with mine and I instantaneously began digging my fingernails into my skin. I did this whenever I was nervous.

Was she angry with me? Actually, if I thought about it properly, she had been avoiding me for a couple of weeks now. It wasn't like I was never home, I'd go straight from my classes to the dorm room and if I was never there, I was always in The Buttery. It had kind of become Ally and I's new hangout spot.

"How are you?" I asked her.

Her expression was as if she was forcing herself to have to look at me. What had I done?

"Same as I was this morning." And then a smile although it did kind of look like a grimace.

I nodded and forced a smile.

We all just stood there, staring at each other for a while.

"Um, well, I gotta go. Um, I have to study." Chelsea finally said.

"Right." I nodded and Ally and I moved out of her way so she could walk through.

As soon as she turned her back on us, she took out her phone and began texting immediately.

I looked at Ally the same time she turned to me and we frowned simultaneously.

"What was that?" She asked, her tone laced with incredulousness.

"I have no idea. Is she mad at me?"

"I don't know. What did you do to her?"

I nudged her playfully as we walked towards Ally's car - which turned out to be closer than mine which was parked at the end of the lot.

"Why do you think it's me that did something?"

She shrugged and shot me a teasing grin.

"You just master the art in pissing people off." She sang.

"Ally!"

"I'm joking." She chuckled. "But that really was weird."

I nodded in agreement and a few cars away from Ally's, I noticed Jacob walking.

"Jacob!" I called, grabbing his attention.

His fists were clenched and he narrowed his eyes at me. I was taken aback for a second before his eyes softened and he walked towards Ally and me.

"Hey, Sienna." He smiled.

"Hey, where've you been?" I noticed that he just been out of his car, too.

"Oh just you know, uh, visiting family."

"You went to Stanwell Vale?" My brows shot up.

"N-no, I have some family that live around here,"

I nodded and began wondering as to why he hadn't hugged or kissed me or really, anything. No signs of affection. I usually didn't pick up on these kinds of things but after not seeing much for the past two weeks, I've wondered where exactly he has been.

"Oh okay, um do you want to do something tonight?" I asked him.

I didn't know where my doubts about both Chelsea and Jacob swarmed me today but they were both very offhand with me.

Jacob slid his phone out of his pocket and looked at it before putting it back into his pocket and looking at me.

"Sorry, I can't today. Maybe tomorrow?"

"Jacob-"

"I have to go, Sienna. Nice seeing you, Ally. Bye." And with that, he was walking away.

I frowned at his retreating figure and turned to Ally.

"Have I done something to piss you off as well?" I grumbled.

She just chuckled and put her hand on my back as a little push to keep walking.

"They both have their issues." She laughed. "But you and Jacob have been pretty distant with each other. You don't really seem to mind."

"What are you getting at?"

"Nothing really. Look, I don't have much experience in relationships but I am pretty observant. In the past three weeks, you've been with Jacob, what, twice? And you're perfectly happy. You and I have had so much fun and you honestly don't seem to mind. I'm not saying that you aren't making an effort, because you are. Jacob isn't though. You guys have been apart for so long yet you guys are supposed to be dating. You're perfectly happy and normal and from seeing Jacob once in a while, he genuinely doesn't mind the separation. What kind of relationship is it when you are both perfectly happy with being without each other?"

I didn't reply, because I was lost in my thoughts. Everything Ally had said, I already knew. But I never really wanted to actually face the facts. So was Ally right?

What type of relationship did Jacob and I exactly have?

I didn't know, but I was determined to find out.

Tonight, I made a mental note.

I'd confront him and tell him that we'd need to discuss whatever it was going on between us. Or the nonexistant relationship we were having.

***

"It's twenty five, is it worth it?" I asked Ally, patting down the floral dress I currently had on in the dressing room.

It had short sleeves, and was tight around the chest and waist area before it flowed down to just above the knee. It was a V-neck but didn't show cleavage which made it perfectly casual. It had three small buttons in the centre where the chest was and I loved the way it sat and how the causal cotton material clung to my body.

"Yeah, it looks great. Get it. That'd make four dresses all for eighty dollars, that's a bargain. And they're casual too, so you can wear them on any occasion. You know, classes, the buttery, anything."

I agreed and took the dress off and changed back into my khaki short and white t-shirt. I went out of the dressing room and paid for four dresses, three pairs of shorts (that reached mid-thigh, I didn't have it in me to wear the booty shorts), two pairs of blue skinny jeans and five different t-shirts all for $175. Pretty good if you ask me. That meant I still had enough money from the two hundred to buy McDonalds on our way back to campus.

Ally bought a couple of dresses and a few pairs of jeans and shirts for a cheap price, too.

We had been shopping for a couple of hours and we weren't tired yet, but we needed to get back to campus since Ally was leaving at five anyway and it was now two.

We walked into the parking lot, shopping bags weighing us down, and unpacked them in the boot of her car. I sat in the passenger's seat as Ally started the car and sped away.

"Was it McDonald's that you wanted?" She asked.

"Yep." I nodded. "I really feel like something greasy."

She nodded in agreement and we went through the drive-through and bought what we wanted. We were back at campus in no time and we grabbed our takeaway bags and began walking to our dorm rooms.

Ally's phone began ringing beside her and she answered it quickly.

"Hello?" Silence. "Chelse?" There was a muffled voice on the other line. "Right now? Okay, I'm on my way."

She hung up and I she looked at me with a fleeting frown.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Chelse seemed really sad. She asked me to meet her in The Buttery. Can you take my food and I'll meet you in our room?"

I nodded and was going to open my mouth but I shut it, knowing it was best to just keep my mouth closed. Why did Chelsea call Ally and not me? It wasn't that I was jealous or anything, but the fact that she had been avoiding me for a while mixed with today's encounter and her sounding sad and calling Ally just seemed weird... the whole situation was very off.

"Do you want me to come?" I asked Ally apprehensively.

Ally looked at me sympathetically and shot me a sad smile.

"She asked me to come alone."

What?

I felt my mouth go dry and once again, my fingers began to involuntarily dig into my palm.

"O-okay."

"Sie-"

"Ally, don't, it's fine. It has nothing to do with you. I just want to know why Chelsea hates me so much."

Ally rolled her eyes and shot me an amused grin.

"Stop being dramatic."

My mind automatically went to Liam. That was something he said to me all the time, usually followed by me making some sort of comment about him being a criminal or something. I couldn't help but feel nostalgic and that is what confused me most. While we were on talking terms, the idea of having him out of my life was like a golden prize and now that it happened, I just kind of missed him.

"I'm going to go to The Buttery. I'll come straight up, okay?"

I nodded and Ally walked a fast pace towards the basement of our residence to the best café in the world. Well, besides Charlotte's back in Vale.

I had two bags of McDonalds in my hands and automatically felt self-conscious. If anyone saw me they were going to think I was so fat... But it wasn't like I couldn't eat all of this anyway.

I began walking towards my dorm room and just before I actually entered the building, I was stopped in my tracks by a familiar face.

Liam.

He was inside one of the rooms and I could see him through the bedroom window and he was... he was vandalising property. The bedroom door was open and I was able to see him in the common room as he smashed the mounted TV, and he started beating something on the floor. I was frozen in my place, my mouth agape as Liam walked into the bedroom and started making the biggest mess in the world, smashing things and throwing stuff out of drawers.

Amidst all of this... this destruction, Liam stopped and noticed me during the window. I was stuck in a deeper trance as his eyes were on mine and for the life of me, I couldn't move.

I just felt... panicked. Like my insides were acting like Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost when she realised she could actually hear Patrick Swayze's ghost.

Our gazes were locked for God knows how long, and I could see Liam's lips moving, making out Mike's name. After a few seconds, Liam was out the door.

***

"Sienna, can you answer the front door for me?" Ally screamed from the shower.

"Sure!" I yelled back and went to the front door.

Damn...

"Mike?"

"Hey, Sienna." Mike mumbled, somewhat nervously.

What the hell was he doing here? I knew I said I missed Liam and all but that hadn't meant I actually expected them to ever talk to me again...

"Did he send you?" I asked, not having to elaborate on who 'he' was.

"No." He shook his head and looked at his shoes, almost like he was scared. "I'm um, I'm Ally's date."

What?

"You can't be."

"I am."

"No, you can't be my best friend's date. You can't be the incredible guy she's been babbling on about."

It seemed like he ignored everything I had just said and focused on the whole 'incredible guy' and 'babbling on about' part because his face lit up like a Christmas tree.

"She talks about me?" He grinned.

I couldn't help but think about how cute he looked doing that... No! I was supposed to hate the twins, despite me missing Liam and his Bradley Cooper bi-polarness.

"Well I only found about you today but I didn't know it was you."

He kept that stupid grin on his face and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Uh, Liam says hi."

"Sure."

"He does. He's kind of upset about screwing with your friendship. He was wondering if you would give him a second chance?"

There was no way... that just didn't sound like Liam. He would be more like 'bitch, be my friend' type.

"Mike, I see Liam almost every day. If he wanted to say hi and make amends, he would have done it by now."

He didn't answer, probably because he knew I was right. No, I was definitely right. Liam didn't ask Mike to say anything to me.

"So anyway, why are you here? Your date isn't for another couple of hours." I spoke, in hopes of speeding up this process of meeting my best friend's date.

"Um, Ally texted me to see her. She said she needed to ask me something."

"Why couldn't she do that over the phone?"

And then he had that smug smirk that was all too familiar. Well, they were twins.

"I think she just wanted to see all this hotness."

I rolled my eyes but couldn't help a small smile.

"Hey!" His smirk turned into a grin. "You're smiling!"

That just made me smile even more.

"I guess I am."

"I'd really like to get to know you, Sienna."

Then I remembered all those references...

"You and Liam seem like you know enough about me." I answered.

He shut his mouth after this and before I could make another dig at him and his stupid, why-do-I-even-miss-him brother, Ally came out in a pair of tights and a t-shit, her hair combed neatly to the side of her in a small braid.

"Hi, Mike." She grinned, shooting me a look to retreat and leave them alone.

I took it as my cue and saluted Mike a goodbye before going into my room and shutting the door. It was only a few minutes when Ally came into my room.

"Sorry about that." She said sheepishly. "I guess I just wanted to be-"

"Ally," I laughed, "relax because I would have done the same thing."

When I said that, it made it all the more real that I didn't have a proper relationship with my boyfriend.

"Good." She sounded relieved. "I just told him what Chelsea asked me. He said he would bring his brother along on the date then."

What Chelsea wanted to ask Ally was if she could turn her date into a double date and see if Mike could bring someone with him.

My throat felt dry and I had to make sure my breathing was even.

"He's bringing... he's bringing Liam?" I asked.

"You know his brother?"

"Um, not really, he's just in a few of my classes." I lied.

"Oh. Yeah, so he's going to be Chelsea's date."

Great...

"Okay, so let's get you ready for your big date." I plastered on a fake smile and then began wondering why I couldn't bring myself to smile.

It's not like I cared about Liam and Chelsea being set up.

"Okay!" Ally was so excited, I was glad she saw passed my nervousness.

I plugged in my hair straightener and sat her in front of me on the couch in the common room as we watched re-runs of Gossip Girl.

It took me half an episode to finish since this straightener was amazing, and Ally went to the bathroom to start her makeup and asked me to take out her clothes and accessories on her bed.

I went to Ally's room and began taking out her stuff just as she cursed loudly.

"What's wrong?" I asked with a frown, standing in the doorway of the bathroom.

"Chelsea just texted me that she just made plans for tonight. She isn't going on the date anymore. What the hell am I going to do? Mike is bringing his brother and Chelsea isn't coming anymore. How embarrassing is that going to be? And I can't just tell Mike not to bring his brother anymore because that's really rude and-"

"I'll come." I blurted.

Ally stopped her ranting and frowned.

"You'll come?"

"I'll come."

Author's Note:

Hey ya'll! What is up? Ha ha, imagine someone actually saying that to you. You'd be teasing them, right? Cause it's "what's up?" not "what is up?" only the cool kids know how to say it properly. And lucky for you guys, because you're reading TBB, you're all cool kids :D

So, I was originally (who watched the originals? :O Klaus <3) going to put the end of the chapter where she's at the restaurant and Liam appears but then because of how I want to end next chapter (you guys are probably going to kill me for the way I end next chapter), I had to leave it at this, so I'm really sorry if you expected the restaurant doube date sorta thing in this chapter but I also wanted to show you Sienna and her time without Liam as well.

I'm so sorry that this is a day late, I promise, I remembered at 12:30am that I needed to upload and I was in bed and my laptop was out of reach and being the lazy person I am, I didn't get it :p

I'm in a really good mood, guys. Like it's not even normal. I feel like going sky diving or something. But instead, I'm cooking for the familia spaghetti. Awesome, right? Updates shouldn't be late anymore BUT I think I'm going to update tomorrow and then this wednesday and then Saturday and then I'll only do Saturday routines (like in STMF) because with family, work (I GOT A JOB), school and my non-existant social life on wattpad and picturing myself with the bad boy, I don't have time to do twice a week :( but whenever I have free time, I promise I will write.

Photo on the side is of Liam and Sienna and the dress that she bought at with Ally. I have a feeling she'll be wearing that dress to a certain somewhere XD

Dedicated to gennj08 for feeling like a dummy for not figuring it out already. Her words, not mine :p

Umm... another update tomorrow. I'd tired, BLAH! And I'm crushing on an Italian guy.

That's it, I need to go cook!
