Chapter Five

Juno

Sienna's POV -

"There's a party tonight."

It was Ally's greeting when I returned back from classes. I wrinkled my nose and walked to my room, putting my bag down and walking back to the common room.

"A party?"

"You know," She rolled her eyes, "A celebration of some sort. Music, dancing, food,-"

"Sex and alcohol. Yes, Ally; I know what a party is."

"Why don't you sound excited?"

I raised my brows at her and plopped onto the couch beside her.

"You already know how I feel about parties; I didn't think I'd have to justify it."

She shrugged and handed me the remote.

"Besides, don't you and Chelse have class tonight?"

She shook her head and frowned.

"It's Friday night. Why would I have class?" She asked incredulously.

Of course. God forbid anyone not party on a Friday night.

"So will you come?"

"Nope."

"Please?"

"Nope."

"Sienna!"

"Nope."

She growled and stood up hastily.

"So you're just going to leave two poor innocent girls go by themselves?"

No doubt Chelsea would be going, too.

"No, I can send Jacob along with you, too."

"You'll send Jacob along but you wouldn't come yourself?"

I just grinned at her and she half groaned, half growled before leaving the dorm. I chuckled as she left, adjusting my position and lying on the couch as I flipped through the channels. I really should have started making notes for my classes so I would be prepared when it came to test time but I just couldn't be bothered. I hadn't really started off with a good morning after bumping into the twins while I was speaking with the Dean.

Truthfully, I was really scared about snitching on them. After seeing them last night, I had no doubt that they wouldn't hesitate in hurting my precious car. But then... every time Liam seemed to get riled up, Mike would whisper something about me and Liam would calm down.

That is what really pissed me off. How could they know me? Or just acknowledge me like they've known me for a while? I hadn't known their names until class had started. I hadn't even known them until that day!

I finished off the movie that I had found on TV, taking notes on film techniques feverously. And then I'd occasionally be entranced by the cute guy on the screen. Once the credits began, my phone rang beside me and I answered without thought.

"Hello?"

"Why so serious?"

"Huh?"

"So raise your glass if you are wrong, in all the right ways!"

Oh of course, who else would it be?

"Hey, mum." I grinned, already walking towards my room to pack a weekend bag.

"Hey, Enna. So, I received a call from someone." She sang.

I knew that tone.

"And does that someone rhyme with Hally?"

"I know nobody by the name of Sally!"

I rolled my eyes and grabbed a tote bag, stuffing a pair of pyjamas with a pair of jeans and shirt.

"What did Ally tell you, mum?"

"Enna, it's college! You have to go to a party!"

Of course, if Ally couldn't get through to me, she'd call my mum and complain. And like every time, my mum was always able to get through to me. Unfortunately.

"Mum, I really do not want to go. How about I come home?"

"Low blow!" She groaned.

I laughed and rolled my eyes.

"Come on, I'll come down tonight and sleep there and spend all day with you tomorrow. That'll be way better than some lame college party."

She mumbled a few incoherent things and I chuckled at her choice of words.

"So you don't want me to go home? You want me to go to the party, drink, see some really hot guy and end up sleeping with him? Only to find out the next week that my periods are a few days late and I could be pregnant with some stranger's baby?"

"Are you just repeating the storyline of Juno?"

"She's in high school in Juno."

"Well, you're as innocent as a high schooler." She grumbled.

I ignored her remark and continued.

"So, which do you prefer? Coming home or getting knocked up by some really hot guy?"

She paused for a few seconds before replying. I couldn't believe she was actually thinking about it! Was she that desperate for me to go to a college party?

"Well, you and Mr hot would make a really pretty baby..." She drifted.

I rolled my eyes and laughed.

"Mum."

"Okay, fine. I give in. You can come home."

"You make it sound like you're doing me a favour." I chuckled.

We continued to chat as I grabbed a few of my things together and threw them in my bag. I wanted to be able to go home and enjoy it before exams and assignments piled up and I wouldn't have a chance to go down. I hung up with her and called Chelse and Ally, letting them know that Ally's stupid antic didn't work and that I was going to go home instead. She was definitely annoyed. And I just chuckled at her the entire time.

I hung up with them and threw my bags over my shoulder, walking down the hall and into the parking lot. As I neared my car, I noticed a tall figure standing near it. I gaped when I saw Liam, his arms folded across his chest.

"What do you want?"

"Hello to you, too."

"I'm not polite to criminals." I retorted.

"You're so dramatic." He rolled his eyes.

"What do you want?" I asked again.

I looked around for a second and noticed that Mike wasn't with him. Mike was always with him, even that morning at the coffee cart, I remember flashes of him in the distance.

"Where are you going?" He asked instead, nodding towards my bags.

"Home."

He nodded once and waited for me to elaborate and when I didn't, he drew in a deep breath.

"You angry like this all the time?" He raised one brow.

"I don't know; do you smash cars all the time?" I copied his tone.

"It's no big deal, Soze. The guy will get over it."

"Why did you do it? I still don't understand." It was... confusing. Who would just decide to wreck a car?

He opened his mouth to reply and stopped short, regarding me with wary eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.

What?

"What?"

He cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck. I tried to ignore how gorgeous he looked while doing this.

"I mean... like... are you okay?"

"Repeating the question won't help me understand what you're trying to say, Liam."

He shut his eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.

"Do you like home?"

What kind of question was that?

"Yeah, I do."

Apart from one thing.

I gulped as Liam scrutinised me.

"Well, have fun in Vale." He finally muttered, moving out of the way for me.

I watched as he walked away and finally noticed Mike standing in the distance. Oh, so he was here all this time. Their brotherly connection was just so strange. It was really cute, too.

Suddenly, something hit me.

"Hey!" I shouted, gaining his attention as he turned around. "How did you know I live in Stanwell Vale?"

He paused for a few moments before smirking.

"See you Monday, Soze."

***

"So we aren't doing movie night?" I asked deadpanned after my mum revealed her plans for tonight.

"Nope." She grinned, shaking her head.

I was standing in my room, putting my tote bag down and searching through my closet for something to wear after my mum told me the news.

"Can you explain again why we're going out to dinner instead?"

"Because your father is in town and he wants to take us all out."

"Is Alex coming?"

"Yeah I am!" I heard Alex reply from a few rooms over.

I laughed and nodded.

"Okay, but can we stop to get a coffee along the way? Or are we having dinner at Charlottes?"

We usually went out in our tiny town anyway, it was just our thing. But since my mum told me I needed to dress up, I suspected we weren't eating in town.

"No, we're going out of town but we'll stop at Charlottes on the way." She replied.

I nodded and we quickly cleaned the house for a little while before venturing off into town. I knew I wouldn't have the opportunity to come home, being in Yale and all, so I really wanted to see everyone every time I could come back to visit.

Alex and my mum were flanked by my side, walking in the towns square. We walked into Charlottes straight away, the smell of fresh bakery enticing our senses.

"Yum!" I grinned, seeing all the treats in the window.

Alex frowned at me and took a seat in one of the booths.

"They don't feed you in Yale?" He laughed. "You look like you haven't seen food in ages."

Well, I had only been away from home in two weeks and I was already home sick. And I only lived about an hour away...

"I haven't seen this kind of food in a while." I replied, going through the croissants I was going to get.

"What about The Buttery?" Alex asked.

He and I were close so I spent a few times calling him and talking to him about college. He didn't want to go to Yale though - instead he aspired for NYU in photography.

"Yeah but Charlotte isn't there." I pointed out.

He nodded in agreement just as Charlotte came up to me herself, hugging me tightly.

"I'm so proud of you!" She gushed.

I laughed and hugged her back. I could hear people outside saying my name and when Char pulled away, I noticed a lot of people lined up outside Charlotte's, waving at me. I waved back and laughed, while some people came inside to greet me while others continued with their daily routines that Stanwell Vale actually offered.

It took at least twenty minutes for everyone to leave, but it passed very quickly. As much as I was overwhelmed by the attention I received in this tiny town, I loved everyone.

"So, did you decide what you were wearing tonight?" My mum asked.

"No," I replied. "I don't even want to have to dress up."

"Come on, Enna." She pouted. "We're never all in one place at the one time so we want to go somewhere special."

"Fine." I nodded. "But if we're getting pizza, I am not eating it with a knife and fork." I warned.

She laughed and nodded.

"Agreed."

***

"Enna, your dad will be here in twenty minutes!" My mum called. "Are you even dressed yet?"

I groaned and shook my head. I had straightened my hair, in hopes that whatever I wore would look nice with my hair straight. It looked kind of weird though... good weird. I didn't straighten my hair often, mostly because I had so much of it and it was really curly, so I never really bothered. But my mum offered and we watched a movie at the same time, so I couldn't resist.

"No, mum! There's too many!" I called back, going through my closet.

After my mum came into Stanwell Vale when falling pregnant with me, she worked her butt off to earn a reasonable living. She was a teacher at Stanwell Vale Elementary School and had worked on the weekends too. With this, my father was and still is insanely in love with my mother and sent her money all the time. That's when my mum stopped working on the weekends. So, they spoiled me in buying me dresses, shoes, handbags and whatnot. Not that I had any use of them since people usually found me indoors with either a book or movie and coffee by my side.

My mum rushed into my room, slipping on a second heel. She was dressed in a three quarter sleeve lilac dress that decently clung to her body and reached her knee. Her brown hair, so identical to mine, was styled in soft waves.

"Wear the peplum one." She decided, eyeing my closet for a few seconds.

"That was easy," I laughed.

She left the room and I was glad I decided to straighten my hair since it'd suit better with a peplum dress. It was electric blue with cap sleeves and it stuck to my body tightly. I think that was part of why my mum had bought it for me in the first place. I quickly slipped the dress on and grabbed a pair of black pumps. I applied mascara, blush and lip gloss before running a brush through my hair quickly.

"Done!" I yelled, running out of my room.

My heel caught on the edge of the door and I tripped over, lying on the ground.

"Enna, stop lying on the floor!" My mum yelled. "You don't have jewellery on. Here, grab my ones." She handed me a pair of big, circular black studs and a ring.

"Aren't you taking a purse?" Alex asked me in amusement.

Being a guy, he took two minutes getting dressed. And living with girls, he remembered every detail about our attire.

"Shit, yes." I grumbled.

I called my mum to bring me her black handbag and she came out of the room with one in hand.

"Here." She said breathlessly, handing the bag to me.

I grabbed it and quickly put in the essentials just as there was a knock on the door. I heard Alex go to answer it and my father's voice.

I walked out of my room and to the lounge room where he was sitting and speaking to Alex. He noticed me and stood up, a bright smile on his face.

"Hey, beautiful girl. How's my college student?" He greeted me, giving me a sideways hug.

I hugged him back and pulled away.

"I'm doing well. I love college life so that's all good." I replied. "How about you Mr Promotion?"

He smiled sheepishly and cocked his head to the side.

"Oh, your mum told you about that?"

I opened my mouth to reply but was cut off.

"Yeah I did, I'm really excited for you." My mum grinned, walking down the stairs in all her gorgeous glory.

I turned straight to my dad and noticed his entranced stare. He was so hypnotised by my mum, so in love with her, it made me believe that there was someone out there for me. Or maybe in time, I'd get that feeling with Jacob.

"H-hey. You look beautiful." My dad stammered.

My mum smiled and walked over to him and planted a quick kiss on his cheek in greeting.

"Thanks." She blushed. "You look nice, too."

He nodded and kept his eyes on her, raking her body.

"Dad, stop looking at mum like that before I beat you up." Alex chuckled.

We all had a pretty good relationship with my dad; none of us carrying any resentment towards him for missing out on the first few years of our life. From what I had been told was that my dad's parents banished him from seeing my mum after she fell pregnant with me. They said he was too smart to go to waste and that they had disgraced his family.

I think my dad had attempted to get in touch with my mum a lot during the pregnancy and a few months afterwards but she always ignored him, hurt that he had chosen an education over her. And then one day, he managed to actually track her down and well... that's how Alex was made. But then college and work got in the way and he missed Alex's first year. After that, he was in our lives all the time.

He'd moved closer to Stanwell Vale and was able to visit us all the time and during these little visits, he and my mum would have romantic flings.

"I can't help it." My dad finally said in regards to Alex's comment. "She's stunning."

My mum blushed again and Alex made gagging noises.

"Come on, don't you guys want to make our reservations?" I pressed, trying to interrupt my dad undressing my mum with his eyes.

"No, I want to marry your mum." My dad said flatly, finally tearing away his gaze from my mum.

This comment didn't come as a shock to us since he said that kind of thing all the time. My parents were both hopelessly in love but there was always something holding my mum back from ever marrying my dad. And that was the one thing she would never tell me.

"James." My mum's tone was a mixture of excitement, warning and nervousness.

"Fine," My dad sulked. "We'll discuss this when we get home."

I never understood why they didn't marry. He visited enough and every time he'd stay the night, he would always take my mum's room and I was pretty sure they did more than just sharing a stupid bed.

"No, we aren't discussing anything. We've talked about it before." My mum said.

"No." He raised his brows. "You've talked about it while I've been sitting and listening to you rejecting me every time."

"James-"

"I love you, Talia. Why won't you marry me?"

"James-"

"Have I done anything wrong to you? You always tell me that I never did anything to hurt you but you still won't marry me."

"James-"

"Don't you love me? Is it because of my mistake years ago? Is that it?"

"James-"

"I've changed and-"

"Dad." I cut him off. "Let's just go to dinner, okay?"

Alex was smirking at both my parents, my mum looked like she was going to cry and burst in excitement any minute and my dad just looked defeated. I felt bad for him but I figured he must have done something really bad for my mum to have a good reason to have kept saying no to him.

"Fine," My dad finally grumbled. "But if anyone asks about us, I'm introducing you as my wife."

Alex and I chuckled while my mum just gulped, clearly frightened by my dad's blunt behaviour.

We walked out to the car and my dad drove; my mum sitting beside him. They stayed silent the entire drive, so the car was filled with Alex and I speaking. He spoke about his senior year and how he is too good for any of the girls to be his date to the prom. I laughed at him and rolled my eyes most of the time but it was good seeing him again anyway.

We were in the city of Manhattan shortly after and found a parking spot really quickly.

"Is this some fancy place where I eat my pizza with a knife and fork?" Alex scrunched his nose.

"Nope." My dad finally spoke. "This place is so fancy, they don't even sell pizza."

Alex's eyes widened and he looked miserable.

I laugh at him and pat him on the back.

"You can live without pizza." I laughed.

He shook his head as we walked in through the doors to the restaurant.

"I'm a New Yorker. I need pizza to survive."

I laughed and we walked towards the woman standing at the front.

"Hi, dinner for four. We're the Fords."

When we were all born, my mum was under the assumption that she'd never see my dad again so we all went under her last name. Dawson. And after my dad got back in touch with her, she never bothered to change it.

"Nice to see you, Mr and Mrs Ford-"

"Oh, we're not marri-"

"This is my wife, Talia. She likes to tell people we aren't married." He laughed.

The woman looked around nervously as my dad wrapped a firm grip around my mum's waste.

"Um... there's a slight delay in the seating so we'll place you at the bar." The woman said.

My dad nodded and directed us to the bar.

We took our seats on the bar stools and sat on the edge. There was a loud commotion behind me and I turned around to see what all the fuss was about.

My eyes widened and a certain brown-haired, brown-eyed man was walking towards me.

Liam.

Authors Note:

Do any of you guys remember the Romeo Show that was on Nickelodeon? Cause I was thinking about starting my authors note with the theme song 'hey ho it's time for the Romeo show' and then I was like to myself 'oh my God, remember the Romeo Show?' And now I was just wondering if you guys remembered it?

I know, I'm really random but that's just what came to mind :P

So, new chapter! <-- this is what I should have started my A/N with.

How did you guys like it? Are you not completely in love with Sienna's dad who is played by the gorgeous Josh Duhamel.
I LOVE HIM <3 especially in Safe Haven! I even envisioned him when I read the book! Which, by the way, was awesome!

GOING TO SEE RICKY MARTIN SOON <3

Anyway, but yeah. Liam in this chapter wasn't much, but trust me, you'll be seeing A LOT from him in the next few chapters (since I've already written them).

Can anyone guess what Liam and Mike are up to and why they are the way they are? If you read STMF, I think you guys could guess.

My life isn't very interesting (apart from RICKY MARTIN) so I won't bore you with details. And I'm tired. That's a lie, I'm probably going to read a book after uploading this.

Umm... Dedicated to ilyxoxo176 because her comments always make my heart smile :) thank you for always commenting throughout STMF and now this! Lots of hugs from Nate and Liam!

Photo is Josh Duhamel.

Life is a highway, just remember that.

Updates should be every Saturday (Australian time HAHAH we're ahead of the world! Except Antarctica)
