Chapter Twelve
Shutter Island
Sienna's POV -
I couldn't believe that I had just agreed to go on what seemed like I double date with those twins. But somehow, my brain was able to function a reason.
"Mike's brother needs a date, right? It isn't going to harm anyone if I take Chelsea's place." Why? Why the hell was I saying all of this?
I didn't want to go! Of course I didn't, it would be ridiculously awkward with Mike and Liam while I was attempting to give both brothers the silent treatment.
"Really?" Ally squealed.
She put her eye-liner down and crushed me into a hug.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, th-"
"Ally! The date is in thirty minutes, hurry up!"
And as I said those words, I also realised I had thirty freaking minutes to get dressed. According to Ally, they were meeting at the restaurant but she hadn't told me why.
"Well get out and get yourself ready!" Ally pushed me in the direction of my bedroom and I practically ran into my door.
"Relax! Don't worry, I'll be ready on time." I hoped so.
I grabbed my curler and plugged it in and started to curl my hair into soft waves rather than my unruly ringlets. It took me fifteen minutes to finish and my hair was falling in soft waves, stopping just passed the middle of my back.
"Ally! What do I wear?!" I yelled from my bedroom.
I had to earn a medal for being the worst at picking outfits. Oh, and an award for curling my thick, long hair to perfection in record time.
"That floral dress you bought today!" She yelled from the bathroom.
Crap, crap, crap! I had, like, no time! Why had I even agreed to go to this date? My plans for tonight was to confront my boyfriend about our relationship and then buying Chinese takeout! Not to go on a double date with the Turner twins and my best friend!
I brought out my floral dress and quickly made sure I was wearing a good bra for the dress. I slipped the dress on and grabbed a pair of heels and a handbag, stuffing everything inside.
"Sienna we have five minutes before we need to leave!" Ally yelled, who was now finished everything and chasing after me, cleaning up my mess in my haste.
When I was under pressure, I cracked. I had my dress, hair, bag, heels, but I was missing jewellery and make-up.
Ally sort of pushed me... scratch that, she fully-fledged pushed me onto the couch and applied eye-liner, mascara and blush before handing me a tube of lip gloss for me to put on. She ran to the room and grabbed small hoop earrings and bangles.
And ladies and gentlemen, that was how you prepared for a date in under twenty eight minutes.
Ally and I were out the door in a flash and in her car, with her yelling at me the entire time to keep up while I kept wondering why the hell I volunteered to go on a date with Liam Turner.
***
"Mike just texted me that just parked outside." Ally told me, her hands shaking from nervousness.
We were at a pretty decent restaurant that was made for dates. Candles, love hearts and all that. Ally and I made it before the boys which made Ally even more nervous that Mike was going to stand her up.
I nodded and felt like a brick was sitting in my stomach.
And then...
Liam was here.
When he saw me, he just sort of stared. Like this was definitely a surprise. To be fair to him, it was a surprise because I was sure he was expecting Chelsea and was a no-talking rule with me, so obviously, my presence was kind of a shock.
Mike walked ahead and greeted Ally at the table and he probably said something to me as well but I was stuck in a black and white rippled trance that was captivating every thought - all moulding into those brown, scorching eyes of Liam.
He frowned the tiniest bit in confusion, like he wasn't sure if he was allowed to greet me or talk, or even be happy. Despite his actions in trashing and vandalising a room, I still couldn't help but miss him. I offered him a small smile and it was as if that was it, his own Great Wall of China had been knocked down with my fraction of a smile and everything was just okay.
He began to take steps towards us and finally met us at the table. Mike and Ally were consumed in their own conversation to pay attention to Liam and I, who were placed to sit across from each other.
I was still standing and Liam had moved in front of his seat and was still looking at me in that tranced state.
"The brunette with the curls." He mumbled faintly, a small smile appearing on his face.
"Is that my new nickname?" I questioned, sitting in my seat and tucking it in.
"Sorry, Soze is sticking. You're still the blabber mouthed notorious murderer."
"Yet you're the criminal." I piped back.
He sighed and rubbed his hand over his face in what seemed like distress.
"Listen, about what you saw today, it wasn't what you thought." He told me, his elbows going onto the table and leaning closer to me.
"Was that your dorm room?"
"No, but-"
"Then it was exactly what I saw." I shrugged casually, leaning into my chair when I realised that I, too, had my elbows rested on the table and was leaning towards him.
I wasn't going to argue over this anymore with him. Hell, I didn't even know why I was talking to him, let alone missed him. Wasn't he the one that caused frustration and irritation? How the hell do I miss something like that?
"You're not going to argue over that, are you?" He asked cautiously.
I shook my head as a no and turned to Ally and Mike who were smiling and chatting away. They looked happy, effortless. Even though Jacob and I's relationship had been going on for much longer, and I couldn't really compare my relationship with Ally's and Mike's, I just had to notice how effortless it was between my best friend and my nemesis' twin brother and how much effort I had to put into my relationship with Jacob and it was never returned.
"So, Mike, is this your brother?" Ally asked, noticing that Liam and I were now silent.
"Yeah, this is Liam." Mike said, pointing to his brother.
Liam smirked and nodded in greeting.
"Sienna, this is Liam - oh, wait you guys haven't you guys already met?" Ally frowned.
"Yeah, I first met Soze when she was babbling on about some coffee that she couldn't buy because she had no money. And then she started talking about murder. It was a pretty amusing greeting." Liam smirked, his eyes averting to mine and laughing in amusement from the memory.
"I was desperate!" I tried to defend myself and he just shook his head in amusement and turned back to Ally.
"So, Ally, the other brunette, how did you meet my other-self downgraded?" Liam asked.
Everyone had been looking at Liam and when he stopped talking, we all turned to Ally, who suddenly began blushing from the attention.
"Um, I was, uh, in The Buttery when the guy spilled coffee all over me. He offered me no apology and instead began yelling at me and calling me names when Mike stepped in for me." She blushed when she said the last part while looking at Mike.
"So you were sort of like a vigilante, huh?" I asked Mike, speaking to him for the first time since this dinner.
He shuffled around in his seat a little and looked down.
"You could say that," He shrugged.
"So my brother was your hero?" Liam asked while Ally drank from her glass.
She choked on her gulp and everyone laughed at her.
"Um..."
"Leave her alone, Liam." Mike grinned, looking at Ally like he had just won the lottery.
I had to say, her innocence tonight was really cute and a side of Ally I didn't see often. Well, mostly because this was her first date.
"Yeah, Liam." Ally agreed. "Turn to the other brunette."
"With the curls." Liam added.
I wished I had straightened my hair instead.
Before anyone could say anything more, the waiter came and ordered our food. I wished I could say something like he was checking Ally and I out the whole time and Mike and Liam were shooting daggers at them the whole time, but this wasn't a cheese-fest. This wasn't High School Musical.
So, yes, the waiter was perfectly normal and took our orders and promised bread sticks soon.
Mike and Ally wasted no time in sparking up a conversation while Liam and I sat awkwardly as two third wheels. Or four wheels, whatever.
I turned back to Liam, and noticed how he was looking at me, stuck in some sort of trance with the barest of smiles. I waved my hand in front of him and he shook his head and looked away sheepishly before turning back to me with that classic Liam smirk.
"Soze, what's your favourite movie?"
"What?"
"I want to know what your favourite movie is."
"Why?"
"F*cking hell, Soze, answer the question."
I scowled at his language and the harshness held in his tone.
"I don't really have a favourite movie. I love, appreciate and respect all the work that goes into each film." I answered after much thought.
"Okay, so I'll give a different approach. You go to prison, and they only allow you to take in one movie with you. That's the movie you'll be watching for the rest of your life. What would it be?"
"Well if I was innocent, I'd choose The Shawshank Redemption. The enlightenment in that movie just touches everyone and would give me so much inspiration to keep fighting on and not to give up. Place my faith in the Lord and all that. I would make friends and I would show them just how-"
"Okay, okay." He smirked. "F*ck Soze, movies really are your thing. Scrap the prison. You're stuck on an island and-"
"Shutter Island." I shrugged. "If I was stuck on an island and I could only choose one film to bring with me then it would no doubt be Shutter Island. Have you seen Shutter Island?" I didn't give him the pause to answer. "It is such an amazing film. Well, anything Leonardo DiCaprio is in is always special, but you get what I mean and-"
"Soze?"
"Yeah?"
"Just shut the f*ck up." He grinned and then for extra effect "Please."
I narrowed my eyes at him and shrugged.
"You're the one who asked me the question." I muttered.
"Don't worry, Soze, it's been noted to never bring up movies in front of you again." He smirked.
