hehehe sneakily combining my two favorite things: Hamilton and Dan and Phil.                             Also, yes, i know i'm updating far too much but who cares? I'm the author, fight me.

(And yes, ik dan doesn't have a sister before you write that in the comments)

"A toast to the groom," Dan said, smiling and raising his glass. He steals a glance over at Phil and his new wife, Emma, his sister. "To the bride!"

Phil grins at Dan, watching his best friend toast him and his wife. His best friend would always be there for him, Dan was the best.

It killed Dan, being the best man at Phil's wedding.

He knew how bad this sounds, but it should have been him. It should have been him sitting at the table with Phil, holding his hand underneath the tablecloth. Him to kiss Phil whenever someone tapped their utensil on a glass.

"From your brother, who is always by your side!" Dan cheered, turning to face the couple, clutching the glass in his hand, still. He wore a smile, for Phil. It was his big day, and he was going to be there for Phil, no matter how much it hurt. No matter how hard it was to fake a smile. "May you always....be satisfied!"

Dan could feel himself, remembering. Remembering that night.

(rewind (lol didja get the reference (holy crap I'm such a nerd)))

"okay Dan, tonight is the night you tell Phil." He said, staring straight at his reflection in the mirror. He took a deep breath, his heart pounding and leaping up and down. This would be just about the hardest thing he could ever do.

Finally, his nerves calming (but only to a very small extent), he walked out of the bathroom and into the big party room.

"Phil!" Dan called, running over to his best friend. Phil turned around and beamed at Dan, making Dan's knees weak. How could one boy be so handsome? But his eyes, his eyes were beautiful. They were intelligent and kind. Blue, deep blue, a blue you could just drown in.

"Oh, hey Dan!" Phil said.

"Phil, I..."

"Look over there," Phil interrupted Dan, pointing over to a girl. Dan's sister. She was looking over at the two of them, smiling shyly. Her eyes set on Phil.

She looked helpless. Helpless and in love.

"See her? I really want to talk to her but I dunno..."

Dan took a deep breath. "Phil I really wanted to talk to you about--" once again cut off, Phil said

"Should I? She seems really sweet. I think I should, but I, uh, don't know her. Do you?"

Dan felt his heart drop. He wasn't gonna get Phil. He stole another glance at the girl, who was now leaning against a pillar, still staring dreamily at Phil. He looked back at his best friend to see him seemingly drooling over her. He felt as though he could just die in that second, collapse onto the floor in a pile of tears. But no, if meeting her would make Phil happy...he would. He would do anything to make Phil happy. And if it would make his sister happy too, that was great. Why sacrifice two people he love's happiness for his?

"Um, yeah. Actually I do. That's Emma." Dan says, rubbing the back of his neck. "Let's go, I'll introduce you."

"Oh Dan? What were you gonna say?"

"Not important. I'm taking you to change your life." Dan says, leading Phil away, willing his body not to cry.

"Lead the way." Phil smiled.

"Emma Howell," She says, as soon as we walk over. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Howell?" Phil questions, looking over at Dan, confusion written on his face.

"My sister." Dan explains, forcing a soft grin onto his features. He took a deep breath, resembling the one he took not long ago. But this one was filled with heartache. "I'll leave you to it."

And he walked away, clutching a fist to his heart, tears welling in his eyes.

He shouldn't have introduced them, he began to second-guess himself. He sighed. I guess I'll never be satisfied.

But he would never forget Phil's eyes that night. So passionate, lovelust. So, simply, amazing. Just like him.

Dan shakes his head, softly and brightens his eyes and voice.

"To the groom!" He cries, one more time, a huge smile plastered on his face. Masking his face. "To the bride!"

"From your brother, who is always by your side! And may you always...be satisfied."

Phil cheered, making eye contact with Dan once more. Dan felt his heart both soar and break upon seeing Phil's gaze. Emma smiled at Dan and Dan grinned back. His sister...his best friend they were happy because of him.

Dan watched as Phil pecked Emma on the lips, putting his arms around her.

Dan retreated from the floor.

He found a spot in the lobby, where no one was. It was quiet. Alone.

Finally, he curled his knees to his chest and buried his head in between them. Tears dripped down his cheeks.

"I will never be satisfied..." He whispered.
