Chapter 30 – I Should Have Kissed You

"Hunter, where the hell are we?"

My feet brushed against the dusty concrete surface with every step I took as I continued climbing onto the piles of rocks which had somehow formed a fairly steep hill.

"Just trust me on this."

My eyes landed on the night sky, the stars coming into better view the longer I stared at them. The silence of the night was like a blanket, wrapping me up and filling me with calmness. I hadn't realized how comforting the night sky was until now. Hunter was in front of me, leading the way to a very unfamiliar path in a very unfamiliar part of the city.

"Really? We're in the middle of nowhere at 10pm and that's what you come up with? You're going to have to be a lot more convincing that for me to believe that you aren't going to blow my head off any second now."

When I looked around, all I saw were trees and land. Hills adorned the edges of the place like bordered decorations. I even think I saw a small lake on our way. It was only now that we were much higher up that I could see the landmarked skyscrapers of New York in the very far distance, in fact the only reason how I knew they were buildings were the small lights which shone in the distance.

"Believe me if I wanted to kill you I would have done it by now. Especially with that unlimited sass and sarcastic mouth of yours."

As I continued walking I noticed that the rocky hill was starting to level off and soon I wasn't climbing anymore, rather simply walking.

"I can't believe you dragged me all the way here at night. What could there possibly be in a place like this. Oh are you going to introduce me to the set of The Jungle Book? Yippee because I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that instead enjoying a good night's sleep. Or maybe you plan on teaching me a few tricks from Tarzan, huh? Why the hell are you ignoring me? Just tell me whe – "

"Well that shut you up didn't it?"

I glanced back at Hunter with my mouth wide open as he stood there with his arms crossed and a cheeky smirk playing on his lips. I knew he was proud that he had gotten this reaction from me.

I was honestly speechless.

There wasn't a single word that could justly describe the sight in front of me.

I never understood or fully related to everyone's wish and desire about visiting New York City, but now I realized that it is every girl's dream.

Lights. So many bright lights embellished the famous city. The buildings stood tall and firm, some perfectly symmetrical and others ranging in different sizes. When I looked down, I could see the cars and taxis roaming the streets, the headlights looking like microscopic diamonds.
