Chapter 56 – Derek Morgan Has Set The Bar Quite High
Alyssa Shade
My eyes slowly opened, fluttering slightly before I was able to fully open them, taking a few seconds to adjust to the light.
Hunter had opened the blinds and the sun was out. It wasn't too hot though because the wind was also blowing through the slightly open window.
I turned to my side, greeted by the gorgeous sight of a shirtless Hunter working on his laptop.
He sensed my gaze and looked towards me, "Good morning, beautiful."
He leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead, letting his lips linger for a few seconds.
"I still can't get over last night." He whispered into my ear, causing my cheeks to heat up instantly.
I couldn't either. Let's just say that after I surprised him with a boldness that I didn't even know I had inside me, we proceeded to make love a good few times before actually going to sleep.
I hid my face in his neck, inhaling a new scent that I didn't recognize. It was nice – fresh and masculine with a hint of citrus.
"Have you showered already?"
"Yup. I'll make you breakfast in a bit whilst you shower."
He continued to type away on his laptop and I shifted closer to him, leaning my head against his upper arm. It took a few seconds of staring at the screen for me to realize that he was writing an essay.
"Since when does being a gang member require doing homework?"
I looked up at him, noticing a pink tint on his cheeks as I spoke.
"It doesn't. This isn't for Cold Shadow."
"Then what is it for?"
He cleared his throat, "I'm kind of doing a degree in forensic psychology."
My eyes widened. I didn't give thought to the fact that Hunter would want to pursue an actual career path after his biological father's treatment is done.
"Really? Why didn't you tell me? I love Psychology. Wait so you're basically becoming a criminal profiler?"
"That's not all it consists of but yeah, profiling is a section of it."
I was beyond excited because Criminal Minds is my life and I've always wanted to meet a real profiler. Now my boyfriend is becoming one.
"Well just to let you know," I pretended to examine my nails, "Derek Morgan has set the bar quite high so you've got some competition."
He smirked, "Yeah well, so has J-Lo in the dancing department so I guess we both have something to prove."
"Really?" I gave him a flat look, "I give you someone who doesn't even exist in real life and you give me one of the most gorgeous women on the planet to compete with? You, my love, don't play fair."
My heart pounded with excitement when he placed his laptop on the floor and inched closer to me, hovering above my body with a cheeky look on his face, "Who said anything about being fair?"
"Oh don't worry, pretty boy, I'll find someone who has more game than you."
"For what it's worth, after last night you gave J-Lo a run for her money. Plus from where I'm standing, you definitely get the title for the most gorgeous woman on the planet."
I couldn't help the giddy smile that took over my face. When a guy talks to you like that, you can't not fall in love.
I pushed him away before he had the chance to kiss me, hearing his deep chuckle as I got out of bed to head to the bathroom. But once again, Hunter had to run his cheeky mouth.
