Chapter 39 – You Really Love Him, Don't You?

"Where the hell do I go for breakfast?"

I muttered to myself, standing at the foot of my bedroom. I wouldn't dare set my foot out of this room without having had a full tour of the building.

It turns out that the nap I had yesterday afternoon turned into me sleeping through the entire night.

After moments of contemplation accompanied by my growling stomach, I decided that my hunger is more important than getting lost.

I took slow steps away from my bedroom, my eyes scanning the surroundings as I tried to decipher which way looks like it would lead to a kitchen – not the best analysis but it will have to do for now.

Each door I opened led to a different room – gyms, bedrooms, game rooms – but no kitchen.

Why is it so hard to find food in a place filled with huge ass people?

I felt like a headless chicken, helplessly wondering around and apologizing each time I walked into an occupied room and disrupted the people there.

After several minutes of losing my mind, I remembered what Owen said to me and pulled out my phone, opening my contacts.

The first name that popped up was Hunter's since I had saved it as 'Asshole'.

My thumb hovered above it for a few seconds and I tried convincing myself that it's just breakfast. It's not like I'm asking him to go on date with me, I just need someone to go with because I'm not allowed to go alone.

I pressed the call button before I could get the chance to change my mind and he picked up after the 4th ring.

"What's up?"

I looked around the dark hallway that I was currently in and it was lined with doors on either side.

"I want to have breakfast but I don't know where to go. I'm in a really long hallway with a sh*t load of rooms so could you please come and meet me here and we can go out for breakfast?"

He inhaled sharply.

"What are the numbers on the doors?"

I ignored the shiver that ran down my spine. It's been a while since we've had a normal conversation but even over the phone I could feel the thick tension.

"They're in the thirties and forties."

A few seconds of silence passed and I heard some movement from his side of the call.

"Okay. Stay where you are and I'll tell Danny to meet you there. I don't really have time to go for breakfast. Sorry."

My heart sunk. With our current situation, I should be the one avoiding him but it seems as though I'm receiving all the hostility.

"Thank you."

I cut the call and sat down, leaning against the wall.

It's going to take quite a while to get used to this and something tells me that I'll be here for a long time.

"I've come to your rescue, oh distressed princess."

Daniel walked towards me, phone in hand, and held his hand out for me to take when he was close enough.

"This place is like a goddamned Labyrinth. I just want some food. Is that too much to ask?"

He chuckled and walked ahead, "Follow me."
