Taevy and I caught a bus to the station and got onto a train to Sydney. We have been to Luna Park a couple of times and I was hoping that we could make this one special. Everything we do in the next few weeks will be special. I will make sure of it.
We got off at Circular Quay and headed to the ferries. I paid for our tickets. We had to wait for half an hour for the next ferry. We brought an ice cream and sat on a bench to eat it. I put an arm around her shoulder.
“Oh crap,” Taevy suddenly said.
I looked down to see that a drop of chocolate ice cream was on her chest just above the neckline of her V neck crimson red long sleeve shirt. I laughed at her.
“Don’t laugh,” she said, wracking my arm.
She grabbed a napkin, but I grabbed her hand before she could clean it up. A dirty thought ran through my mind and I think Taevy knew I was thinking dirty, but she didn’t say anything.
I leaned forward and licked the chocolate off her skin. I then began kissing her up to her neck.
“Liam!” Taevy quickly pushed me off, laughing at the same time. “We’re in a public place!”
I laughed and then glanced down at my watch. We had ten minutes to go. Still licking our ice creams, we walked over to the wharf and waited with the crowd to get onto a ferry. Once we were allowed to board it, I grabbed Taevy’s hand and we walked on. We looked around for a place to sit. Taevy wanted to sit outside. We sat on a bench outside that was only room for one person. I sat down and got Taevy to sit on my lap.
The ferry started moving. As soon as we pulled out of the wharf, Taevy got up and stood at the railing. I stood beside her, putting an arm around her waist. She took some pictures of the landmarks, and then we posed for some photos.
Taevy press review and stared at a photo of me and her with a smile on our face. Behind us was the Sydney Opera House. It was a great picture of us. I looked at Taevy and noticed this sad look on her face.
I touched her face. “What’s wrong, Taevy?”
Taevy put the camera away. She turned to me with a tear in her eyes. She wiped the tear away. “It’s nothing.”
I made her face me. I knew she was lying. “It is something, Taevy.”
“Looking at that photo made me realise how perfect our lives were, and within two months all of that is going to go.”
Tears started to fill her eyes again and I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close to me.
“Taevy, please don’t think about that. I’m trying not to think about it. Come on, please don’t cry. You’re going to spoil everything.”
“I’m sorry, Liam. I don’t mean to get upset.”
I cupped my hands around her face and made her look at me. “It’s okay, Taevy. I can understand if you get upset. But please don’t otherwise I will get upset. Look, let’s just forget what’s going to happen and let’s have fun.”
Taevy smiled and I returned it. I kissed her, hoping it would make her feel better. It did. We sat back down on the seat. Taevy rested her head on my shoulder.
Once we got off the ferry, we headed to the entry of Luna Park. I paid for our entry and we walked in.
“What are we doing first?” I asked.
“Can we get some fairy floss?”
We headed to a stand that was selling pink fairy floss. I ordered a stick for us to share. We walked around, playing some games before heading onto some of the rides. Every time I looked at Taevy, her smile had gotten bigger. She was enjoying herself so much and it made me happy as well. She seemed to have forgotten about the scene earlier when she broke into tears on the ferry.
