We didn’t leave for Queensland until the weekend. I let Taevy rested up before we went. We drove up there again. We even stopped at the McDonalds that we got into trouble for playing on the playground, but decided not to play on it. Once we dumped our luggage in our hotel room, we went out for dinner.

The next morning we were up bright and early. Taevy was excited to know she was swimming with dolphins. She was bouncing all the way to the gates to the park. We paid for the entry and entered inside.

“What are we doing first?” I asked.

“Can we swim with the dolphins?”

“Yeah we can, but first we have to book it. Come on.” I grabbed her hand and we started walking over to the dolphin pools so we could book a session.

“Aw, they are so cute,” Taevy said when we reached the pools.

We leaned on the rails to look down at the bottlenose dolphins. They swam over to us, taking a look at us, and then swam away. Taevy took out her phone.

“I’m going to take a picture and send it to Kaelie,” she said. “She is so going to be jealous.”

I laughed. “You’re a mean friend.”

“Yeah, I kind of am.”

Two people were book before us and we were just after them. We had an hour to ourselves. We looked around at the attractions and even went on some rides before heading back to the pools. We put on wetsuits and joined a trainer named Erica into the pool.

“Is this your first time swimming with dolphins?” Erica asked us.

“Yes it is,” Taevy said with a grin on her face.

Erica smiled. Two dolphins came over to us. “This is Nikki.” She pointed to the dolphin in front of Taevy. “And this is Clay.”

We patted them and swam with them. I watched Taevy slowly. Her grin never left her face once. Straight away I knew that this was probably one of the best experiences of her life and this was probably one of the best experiences of her life and I’m glad I got to do this with her. No matter what happens to her with this heart condition, at least Taevy will always have the best memories of us together. And if she goes, I will be able to hang onto them forever.

After swimming we decided to enjoy the rest of the theme park. Neither of us wanted to leave. We headed down to the beach before we headed back to the hotel. I held her hand as we walked along the sand barefooted.

“Thanks so much, Liam,” Taevy said. “I don’t know what I would ever do if you weren’t my boyfriend.”

“I don’t know what I would ever do if you weren’t my girlfriend.” Even though I will find out soon.

“Liam, what do you think it would be like if we ever got married?”

I thought about it for a second. “Well, we will buy a house beside the beach like you want to. We will get a dog and we will have heaps of children.”

Taevy laughed. “Heaps?”

“Okay, maybe one or two, maybe three kids.”

“Yes, well I don’t want to have heaps of kids. Do you have any idea how painful it is when giving birth?”

“I don’t want to know but I have heard and seen on TV what it’s like.”

“Then it’s settled. I’m having no more than three kids.”

“Okay, but you have to have sex with me every day.”

Taevy wracked me in the arm. “You pervert! No, I’m not doing that every day.”
