It was my turn to choose the activity. I stayed up for half of the night just wondering what we could do together. I couldn’t decide it at all, but when I woke up in the morning I decided we could go bowling. It’s been awhile since we went bowling together.
Natasha wanted to come with us the moment Mum asked me what I was doing today. As much as I didn’t mind my sister coming with us, I had to tell her that I only wanted it to be Taevy and me. I wanted to make it special from all of the other times we went bowling. Natasha understood why I didn’t want her to go.
“I am so going to beat you in bowling,” Taevy said as we walked into the bowling alley.
“No, I’m going to win.”
“Well, I got a turkey the last time we played while you only got a double.” She stuck out her tongue.
“Yes, rub it in why don’t you?”
“I already am.”
We paid for a game and got our shoes. Taevy selected our balls – two each. We always got the same colours every time we came here. Taevy got herself a purple and an orange ball while she got me a red (my favourite colour) and a blue ball. I type our names into the score board.
I went first. I stood in front of the lane, holding onto the red ball.
“You suck, Liam,” Taevy said.
I turned to face her where she was sitting on a seat. I poked my tongue out at her. I concentrated on the game and bowled the ball straight down the middle. The ball hit the middle pin, knocking them all down. Strike!
“You still suck,” Taevy said.
I ignored her and went for my second go. I got a strike the second time.
Taevy was next and on purpose I went to distract her. I stood behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist, kissing her neck. I could see she was trying not to get distracted and I knew she wasn’t going to bowl the ball right. She didn’t say anything about me distracting her. She bowled the ball and it ended up going down the gutter and didn’t hit anything. I laughed.
“Looks who sucks now,” I said.
Taevy hit me in the shoulder. “Jerk. Look at what you made me do.”
We continued the game. We tried distracting each other a few times. By the end of the game, I was the winner.
“You cheated,” Taevy said as we put the balls back on the rack.
“How did I cheat?” I asked.
“I don’t know how, but I know you did.”
“You’re just jealous because I won and you didn’t.”
Taevy turned to face me and wrapped her arms around my neck. “You’re just jealous because I’m a better bowler than you. That’s why you cheated.”
I cupped my hands around her face and leaned forward to kiss her.
“So what are we doing now?” Taevy asked.
“Let’s get something to eat.”
We headed over to the kiosk and got ourselves a hot dog. We sat down to eat it before leaving. Taevy wanted to visit our tree so I drove towards the park.
“Hey, I was thinking that maybe we could sit on the roof of our house and watch the sunset,” Taevy said once we were sitting in the tree.
“I don’t know. You know how our parents feel about us being on the roof, Taevy.”
