I finished my cereal and sat back in my chair. "You gonna clear the bowls, honey?" Jacob asked me. I smirked in his direction. "I had to make your cereal so you have to clear the bowls, that's the deal." I said crossing my arms. Jacob chuckled and ruffled my hair before grabbing the bowls and bringing them over to the sink. "Go get dressed Vale we're going to head into town today." Jacob said. We would go into town once a week to the small grocery store to get food. It was one of the things I most looked forward to. The town always held many new exciting smells and adventures for me. I smiled in my father's direction before running up the stairs and walking over to my room. I opened the door and quickly went through my morning routine. I slipped on some random clothes, and started making my way down the stairs. Jacob was waiting for me by the door. "Ready?" He asked. "Ready Freddie!" I answered with a grin.

Jacob smiled at his daughter and opened the door. I heard the door open and walked outside and started walking towards the area where Jacob usually parked the jeep. Jacob opened the door for me and I climbed in. I heard the door close and then the sounds of Jacob getting into the car. The engine started and I could feel the jeep moving forward. "Daddy can you roll down the window?" I asked excitedly. Jacob smiled and rolled down Vale's window, watching in amusement as she stuck her head out like a dog and sniffed the air. "What do ya smell, Vale?" Jacob asked. I crinkled my nose. "I smell...salt." I heard Jacob laugh. "Well we are getting pretty close to the market...that's probably what you smell." Jacob said. "Cool!" I exclaimed happily. We arrived at the little grocery store and I felt my way to the handle. I opened the door and hopped out. I felt Jacob's hand rest on my right shoulder. "I'll guide you Vale, just stay close." Jacob said. "Ok." I replied. Jacob led me into the store. He grabbed a cart and told me to keep my hand on the cart at all times. I nodded and wrapped my hand around the cool metal of the shopping cart. Jacob started walking around the store, I could hear him mumble to himself as he tried to remember everything he needed to get. "You know if you made a list you wouldn't have this problem." I said after hearing Jacob mumble some more. He flicked me lightly on the head. "I don't need a list I can remember everything I need to. "Uh huh." I said but then I suddenly smelled a wonderful mixture of tomato, basil, and beef. "Ooo daddy do you smell that!?" I asked sniffing the air again. "Yeah I do honey I think it's marinara sauce." Jacob said. "Do you think their making some in the kitchen right now?" I asked Jacob. "Most likely." Jacob said looking down at his daughter. "We can get some and have spaghetti tonight if you want honey." Jacob said ruffling my hair. "Ok sure!" I said happily. After we had gathered all that we needed at the grocery store Jacob gave me the keys and told me to wait in the car while he bought the food. I agreed and quickly went to the car. I was surprised when I saw that we had spent all day in the store. I could feel the cool night air coming in and could no longer sense the bright sunlight on back, I knew that the sun was already setting. I felt very tired and trudged around until I found the jeep and used the keys to open the door. I climbed in and quickly closed the door. I rested my head against the back of the seat and quickly fell asleep.
