Mark and I started walking to the Great Hall, Delilah trailing by my side. "Hey Mark?" "Yeah Vale?" "Do you think people look at me differently because I'm blind?"
I heard Mark sigh. "I don't know Vale, when people look at you in their minds I think they see a girl they don't know, a girl who they don't understand....and so they judge you for what they see, a girl who is blind. What they don't see is what's inside of you. Your personality, what's in here." I felt him lightly poke my chest where my heart was. "That's what really matters."
I felt tears run down my face. "Thanks Mark, I've only known you for 2 days and your already the best friend I've ever had." We shared a brief hug before we continued to walk to the Great Hall.
We sat down at the Gryffindor table and fill our plates up. A few minutes passed in silence between Mark and I as we ate our fill. I finished and sighed in content.
"Hey what do you think happened to that Rohan guy and that shy girl Madeline?" I thought for a moment. "I'm pretty sure he got sorted into Ravenclaw and I don't know what happened to Madeline." A moment of silence passed. "Oh! Look! Over there! He did get sorted into Ravenclaw! Look!"
I stayed silent. "Oh! Im sorry Vale I'm really sorry I didn't mean to say that you should look or- I cut him off. "It's fine Mark."
We spent the rest of the meal in silence. I said a quick goodbye to Mark and let Delilah lead me back to the common room. We reached the painting of the fat lady. "Password?" She asked in her high-pitched British accent.
"Awe man I forgot the password." I sat down and leaned my head back against the wall. Delilah curled up on my lap, I stroked her back gently. "I don't suppose you know the password, Delilah?" She didn't respond. I sighed.
"Well looks like I'm stuck out here until someone else comes." I shifted to a more comfortable position.
"Maybe I shouldn't be mad at Mark." I thought guiltily. "He didn't mean to say that." I decided to apologize to him in the morning.
I continued to stroke Delilah's back until my eyes started to feel heavy. I let out a huge yawn.
Before I knew it I had fallen asleep.
