Every year Jacob would take me out to the small candy shop in town for my birthday. He would give me a huge bag and would help guide me around the shop, telling me what all
the different candies were and letting me pick them out. He would let me fill the huge bag all the way to the top with candy, usually I would end up eating all of it by the end of the day.

-a few hours later-

I was sitting on the floor in the living room, playing guess that candy with Jacob. I dug around in the bag until I picked a random candy, I handed it to him. I could hear him unwrapping the candy and placing it in his mouth. "mmmm chocolate." He said. "Ok your turn." I could hear him rummaging around in the bag. "Come on Dad, hurry up I'm going to be 12 by the time you pick a candy." I whined. Jacob chuckled. "As an eleven year old you should have more patience." He flicked me lightly on the side of the head. "Here." He handed me a small candy. I unwrapped it and popped it in my mouth. "Hmm...it's a hard candy...its...a jolly rancher!" I said happily. "Mm hm, now what flavor?" Jacob asked. "Uh...wait...cherry?" "Nope." "Ok...um...strawberry?" "Nope." "Uhh....oh...is it....watermelon!?" "You got it kiddo." Jacob said ruffling my hair. I smiled. "Ok give me another I bet I'll guess it  the first time."

Jacob smiled at his now 11 year old daughter. He was about to reach into the bag and select another candy for her when the doorbell rang. "Who is it Dad?" Vale asked. "I don't know honey I'll go see." He pushed himself up and walked over and opened the front door. Standing at the door was a tall lanky man with bright brown eyes and messy sandy blonde hair, he looked around the same age as Jacob. But the most peculiar thing about him was that he was wearing long black robes. Jacob eyed the man skeptically. "Who are you?" He asked. "Are you Mr. Sinclair?" The man asked interrupting Jacob. "Y-yes." The man stuck out his hand and Jacob shook it cautiously. "I am Professor Darme, and I have come to deliver your daughter her Hogwarts letter. Jacob stared blankly at the man. "Her what?" The man motioned over to where Vale was partially hiding behind the wall. "Your daughter is a witch, Mr. Sinclair."
