I woke up to find the house completely silent except for Jacob snoring in the room next door. I giggled at how loud he was. Then it hit me, I was officially 11 years old today! I squealed in excitement and jumped out of my bed. I carefully but quickly made my way over to the door and opened it. I tiptoed over to Jacob's room, keeping my hand on the wall to guide me. I felt around until I found his doorknob, then I pushed open his door. It made a very loud creaking sound, and I muffled another giggle. I walked around his room until a ran into his bed. I climbed onto it as lightly and quietly as I could. Then I started jumping up and down on the bed yelling "I'm 11 today! It's my birthday!"
Jacob woke up to see Vale jumping up and down on the bed shouting that it was her birthday. He laughed at his daughter's antics.
Vale heard Jacob laugh and fell silent and stopped jumping. She grinned over in his direction. "Can you believe it!? I'm actually 11 today! I'm a whole year older." She flashed him another grin. Jacob laughed again and told me to go wait in my room because he had a surprise for me. I quickly went to my room, tripping over lots of things on my way there in my rush to get to my room. I finally got to my room and I plopped down on my bed, waiting for Jacob. I heard his footsteps coming up the creaking stairs and I sat up. I heard the door open and the sounds of Jacob walking over to my bed. He placed something flat and heavy onto my lap. "What is it?" I asked curiously, I didn't want to reach out and touch it, afraid that it might be a prank or something. Jacob laughed at my cautious reaction. "Don't worry honey it's nothing bad, did you really think I would of pranked you on your birthday?" Jacob asked teasingly. I shrugged. "Better safe than sorry." I heard Jacob laugh again. "But seriously, what is it Dad?" "It's only breakfast Vale don't worry." I clapped my hands together in excitement. "Yay! I get breakfast in bed." I reached out and hugged Jacob tightly before digging into the delicious breakfast.
