After a very long car ride we finally arrived at King's Cross station. Jacob helped me out of the car and Delilah stayed close by my side as we navigated through the busy crowds. We came to a stop. "Well...there's platform 9....and there's platform 10....uhh...." I patted what I hoped was Jacob's arm consolingly. "It's ok Dad, do you see any other people with kids my age?" Jacob ruffled my hair. "Sometimes I think you're too smart for your own good."
Jacob asked some other parents where platform 9 3/4 was. I heard a man chuckle. "Half blood? Or muggle born?" "Uh....I'm not really sure..." I heard the man clap Jacob on either his back or his shoulder. "Ah I see well, my boy's a pure blood but we were just as confused when it was his first year too. What you do is run straight at that brick wall over there and you'll end up on platform 9 3/4."
I heard the man chuckle again. "Yeah I know it doesn't make much sense but trust me it's what you gotta do." I could just imagine the horrified look on Jacob's face. I giggled. "And what's your name little lady?" I sensed that the man was very close, I looked up in his direction. "Vale." "Well that's a pretty name."
I smiled. "Thanks." "I don't mean to be uh rude or anything...but are you blind?" I felt Jacob stiffen beside me. I smiled again. "Yeah I am." "Well I think that's great that the Headmaster is reaching out to you." "Yeah I think so too." "Now if you ever need anything, don't hesitate to let my boy Derek know, he'll help you out. Unfortunately he already boarded the train but he's pretty easy to find, he's in Hufflepuff, just ask anyone from his house and you'll find him."
"Thank you!" "No problem, but you might want to hurry, the train leaves in 5 minutes." I nodded my head and Jacob and I ran through the barrier. I heard the sound of a train horn and could sense that were many people crowding the platform.
Someone took my trunk and I was excited to board the train. I suddenly found myself in a very tight hug. "Dad..." "Now you behave yourself Vale, keep Delilah close and just let me know if anyone teases you or is mean to you ok?" I smiled and hugged him back. "Ok Dad." "That's my girl."
I heard him sniff. "Dad please don't start crying. "I'm not crying don't know what you're talking about." "Yeah okay but Dad I really have to go I don't want to miss the train." Jacob let me go and I could hear him crying as Delilah led me to the train. "Oh Dad what am I going to do with you." I smiled to myself knowing that I really would miss him terribly.
