Manik"I hate you manik!.....I hate you....." She kept on blabbering and soon dozed off due to the effect of the alcohol, leaving me scared and surprised by her words. Did she really mean them? That was all that I could think now and wait for her to wake up and confront about whatever she was saying so that I know the reason. Here she was sleeping so peacefully, without any worries of tomorrow and on the other side was me, for whom sleeping was a long forgotten thing now. Sleep was far far away from me until and unless I don't confront her. I carried her to my car in my arms. I could see the corner of her lips twitching upwards into a beautiful smile which made me smile too. It gave me a kind of relief at that moment. She can feel you even in sleep said my heart but my brain, like always had some different plans....oh come on! She might be seeing some dream that is making her smile my brain retorted. I wanted to believe my heart but my brain had reasoned well. I am such a confused soul! I sighed to myself and made her comfortable in the back seat. I settled in the driver's seat and drove off to my place. I did not want to bother Abhi, knowing he will be too tired to handle his drunk sister and her antiques if she woke up in midnight. Handling drunk nandini is one heck of a tiring job.
We were in my car right now. The drive was eery silent. Nandu's words weren't ready to leave my stubborn head. Thinking hard for its reason was all I was doing while driving alongside. We finally reached and I again lifted her fragile frame in my arms giving the keys of my car to the watchman to park it. The watchman had a very much shocked look on his face seeing nandini in my arms, sleeping so peacefully. Believe me! It was really a sight to watch. Only I know how I controlled myself from laughing. I walked to the lift and soon was standing in front of my door. I with great difficulty opened my door with my keys dwindling to find their way to the lock with nandini in my arms but somehow, I managed. Till the time I entered inside, nandini was stirring in her sleep indicating that she will be awake any moment. I made her lie down on my couch in the living room and initiated to turn around to make her some lime water which would help her with her hangover but could not proceed further as nandu was holding the hem of my shirt firmly in her fist. I bent down a bit to free it when I caught her frowning. Her hair strands were disturbing her slumber by falling on her temple. I smiled at her cuteness and tucked her hair behind her ear making her frown disappear. I again tried freeing my shirt from her firm grip, trying not to wake her up before I was done with preparing the lime water but it looked like she had no plans of leaving me any sooner. I saw her stirring in her sleep and finally she woke up. She blinked her eyes many times to adjust her eyes to the surrounding lights and yawned stretching her arms, arching her back. She's so cute! My heart exclaimed. I know right! I and my brain replied together. I averted my gaze towards nandini and found her confused with a big question mark on her face. "Manik ye to tumhara ghar hai na? Hum yaha kya kar rahe hai?" She asked. "Kuch nahi.....you were not feeling well....isliye we came here" "to fir party?" She asked pouting sadly. Aww. "Don't worry nandu.....party khatam hone ke baad hi I brought you here. You were there for the entire party. You did not miss anything." "Oh thank god!" She beamed. I chuckled and started walking to the kitchen. "Kaha ja rahe ho?" "Kitchen" I replied. She did not ask any more questions and quietly lay there on my couch staring at the ceiling and talking to it about how was it so high. Oh god! What is she?
