Late Night Talks With My Best Friend

The night passed with everyone thinking about their lives. Mukti was analyzing if she loved abhimanyu and had accepted him whole heartedly, Cabir was in his madhubala land trying to figure out if his jealousy was his growing love for navya. On the other hand, navya was smiling to herself gazing at the night sky from her room's window thinking about her memories with Cabir, alia and dhruv were busy enjoying the silence between them in each other's embrace, hugging each other tight as they lay on their bed at Manik's place. They were happy by the fact that they were spending some quality time in each others arms after so long and finally our dear MaNan could not stop thinking about each other. Cabir and navya's words were ringing in their ears, preventing them from sleeping. They tossed and turned on their beds but sleep was a long forgotten business. Getting frustrated manik finally decided to call nandini as she was his sanity, his peace. He picked up his phone but could not decide whether he should call her or not. What if she was sleeping? He did not want to disturb her but then again she was his best friend right so he had all rights to call her at any time he wanted because these boundaries of time were not for them and hence after whacking his brain so much he called her. The call got connected and was answered after a couple of rings. Manik had not expected her to receive his call so fast at almost midnight but was at ease as he could somehow pour his heart out to someone atleast.

Phone Convo

Nandini: hello

Manik: hey I'm sorry if I disturbed you but kya karu mujhe neend hi nahi aa rahi
He pouted over the phone. Nandini giggled.

Nandini: manik chill...its ok even i wasn't sleepy

Manik: oh so kya kar rahi ho?

Nandini* bites her lip*: vo...ha stargazing....they look really beautiful

Manik*fake gasp*: wow the nandini murthy who once hated stars with a passion is now calling them beautiful. What a change...I must say

Nandini: manik stop pulling my leg na....main tab bachchi thi but now I know that these stars are the most beautiful things of nature kyuki once mujhe kisine bola tha ki stars bohot pretty hot hai cuz they keep shining all the time and prevent darkness around us

Manik: oh aur yeh bola kisne tha?

Nandini: hai koi....someone special

Manik*teasing*: someone special huh?
It was then nandini realised what she just said and bit her tongue.

Nandini*trying to change the topic*: acha vaise manik kal new years hai so any plans?

Manik: plans to hai

Nandini*excited*: acha! Toh batao na

Manik*laughing*: there's this party at soha's place
He was cute in midsentence by nandini.

Nandini*annoyed*: soha ki party! Mujhe nahi aana....you guys go and enjoy with that soha

Manik: are par meri baat toh sunlo....I was saying ki soha ke ghar uske dad who had given us that album contract has thrown a party where we all are invited and I will have to go for the album's sake. We will stay there for a while and then uske baad hum sab nikal jaenge and celebrate new years our style....what say?

Nandini: ok fine....I'm up for it but ya let me tell you that you are going to stay at a distance of atleast 1 meter from that soha poha or whatever her name is

Manik*teasing smile*: kyu? Are you jealous?

Nandini*angrily*: manik!

Manik: ok fine...aur kuch?

Nandini pretended as she was thinking and then said.

Nandini: um....nahi

Manik: hmm
He hummed yawning and nandini did the same.  Both chuckled and finally bid each other bye and were soon off to sleep.

Next day
Manik's place

Everyone in the house were in deep slumber when someone entered Manik's room with baby steps, making sure of not making any noise. Manik lied in his bed on his stomach, sleeping cutely like a baby with his slight open mouth, snoring lightly. The person who entered his room admired him for a while, going all aww on this man child and then slowly bent down near his ear whispering his name huskily.

The person*whispering huskily*: manik

But he did not budge, rather he turned on the other side.

Person: manik....rise and shine...look its morning already

Manik slowly peeked from under his sheets like a baby with squinted eyes and smiled to his fullest after seeing the person in front of him.

Manik*smiling*: nandini
He called her name like a prayer as he sat up on his bed lazily. Nandini smiled at him in return and started ranting.

Nandini: manik tum bhi na....itna late tak koi sota hai kya....Aaj new years hai hume planning bhi toh karni hai ki Aaj hum sab kya kya karenge or tum ho ki ab tak ghode bech kar so rahe ho!...

She kept on blabbering but manik paid no heed, instead he was just staring at her and admiring her morning beauty with a sweet smile on his face.

Nandini: manik tum sun bhi rahe ho kya? Chalo get up and freshen up fast...manik? Ma-
She could not complete her sentence as she was pulled by a force which made her land on Manik's chest. Manik was lying down and over him was nandini. Both were busy staring at each other when nandini again tried to speak.

Nandini: manik...

Manik: sshh..kitna bolti ho tum ab ekdum sshh ok?
Manik said while tucking her hair strand behind her ear and nandini obediently nodded in a trance. Manik then rolled them over and hovered over nandini still maintaining the eye lock.

Manik: you know what nandini this moment is like a dream which I never want to end because I'm so loving it

Nandini just blushed looking down as she could do nothing more, manik had completely pinned her to his bed. He started caressing her cheek.

Manik*caressing her cheek*: and this red cheek of yours is so tempting....god! I feel like eating you up....this blush really suits you

Nandini was just blushing at his actions and words. She tried to say something when manik shushed her again.

Nandini:manik...

Manik: sshh...nandini just...just live in the moment
With that he started leaning in and nandini's breath hitched in her throat. She closed her eyes in anticipation, making herself ready for what was coming next when a loud bang on the door disturbed their moment which broke their trance. Manik got off her awkwardly and nandini moved away embarrassed, her cheeks all red. Both straightened themselves.

Abhi*knocking on the door*: baby doll....manik....jaldi neeche aao

Nandini: coming Bhai
Nandini, blushing profusely went out of the room asking manik to join soon. Manik nodded at her awkwardly with a slight blush on his cheeks and stepped in the washroom to freshen up, scratching the back on his head with a boyish grin on his face thinking about the moment they just shared.
